Originally built in the 1800s, it used to be the printing works for Great Eastern Railways and most of the GER’s printing requirements - posters, timetables, ticketing - were handled here. When the works were closed in the 60s, the building was converted into East London’s very first start up building. The oldest mechanised paper mill in the world and we still make paper on our machine which is over 100 years old. Our buildings are (only!) around 400 years old. The state can be described as derelict, dystopian, victorian, with many old machine parts and machines including a large 1897 papermachine, old walls and ceilings, beams and roofs.
