We're part of a unique Victorian house converted into working spaces. The house is designated as part of a unique and historic district of San Rafael. San Rafael is the eldest city in Marin County. We're minutes away from the hustle of the downtown area but are located at the end of a secluded street within earshot of all the action. We consider our location to be a blend of a busy/mellow area ;) Our unit is located in the lower half and has great constant light. Cement floorings with white walls and mid-century modern furniture contrast with the timeless and bold character of the Victorian house. We co-share restroom facilities and have tons of storage space. Our space also offers coffee machines, free k-cups, tea, water included in the rental, plus a mini-fridge. Space is flexible for meeting spaces, or photoshoots. We're new to this platform game but would be so honored to be considered for your meeting of 10 maybe a few more. It is available for rent to creative professionals- photographers, hair/makeup artists, videographers, and other professionals- for use as a creative studio or meeting space. Features of the space: - Shooting Space is approximately 350 square feet -Hardwood Floors -Lots of natural light through large windows covered in sheers -White walls to increase light reflection -Meeting space with cute seating area + coffee table in lounge area -Wardrobe rack -Private Bathroom when renting lounge -AC/heat unit FAQ -Does the studio have WIFI? Yes we do! -Can I bring lighting equipment, backdrops, or other larger equipment? Yes. You may bring whatever you need for your shoot, just ensure that you take proper precautions to ensure no damage is incurred to the studio. -Is there an elevator? We are located on the 2nd story. There is no elevator. There's also a driveway leading to our suite, that you can pull up to in case you need to load material and gear. -What is the maximum number of people permitted? Rental rates are based on a maximum of 20 people on the premises at once. For larger groups please inquire with your needs for availability/rates. -How does natural light change throughout the day? The most even natural light occurs between 11-3pm. In the morning the light is plentiful but is direct and does create window projections on the floor in front of the shooting space. Please plan accordingly. {PLEASE NOTE} Smart Train does pass by on train tracks every hour. Noise is unnoticeable.

About San Rafael

San Rafael, California is known as the city with a mission. That mission is a bit of a play on words but also a hat tip to the city’s history. It was founded as a mission in 1817 and a hospital for the Central Valley American Indians. It has evolved since then, but the name, San Rafael, is for the Archangel Raphael, who was the healing angel. Therefore, it’s still a city with a mission.

The city is located in Marin County and the North Bay area of San Francisco Bay. Today, it has a population of over 57,000 and a vibrant economic and residential scene. The Mediterranean climate and proximity to outdoor recreation and other major California cities make it the ideal destination to work, play, or live in.

Production Space Options in San Rafael

George Lucas, you know the one, he’s responsible for the Star Wars movies, arrived in San Rafael in 1970. His arrival prompted the city to become a hub for high-tech movies and other parts of the entertainment industry. As such, the support industries, including, catering, equipment, furniture rentals, and transportation have evolved along with it.

  • Catering
One of the ways that San Rafael heals is with good food and the catering companies in the city really step up their game to make that happen. The options cover multiple cuisines and can be tailored to our production space needs.

  • Equipment and Furniture Rentals
It can be frustrating when you either don’t have everything you need, break something, or forget something. San Rafael has a unique advantage as a hub of the entertainment industry in that someone else has already forgotten or needed what you need. Therefore, the equipment and furniture rental companies in the city will be able to help you out.

  • Transportation
Public and private transportation options in the city make it easy to get where you need to be efficiently and at a price point that won’t break the project budget. The companies are used to working with the odd hours and extra equipment that comes with transporting a production space project.

  • Walkable city
One of the things we love about San Rafael is that it’s a walkable city and bike-friendly. In fact, there are many green transportation initiatives within the city, making it a nicer place to live and work, and an easy destination to explore.

  • The views
The geography in San Rafael includes rolling hills, and this means that you have views of the San Francisco Bay from many locations throughout the city. Add in the historic architecture and open spaces, and you have a city with fantastic views.

  • Fault lines
The San Francisco Bay Area is filled with fault lines and residents and visitors alike understand the risks that come with being in this area. The most common fault line in the area is a right-lateral strike-slip. This causes an incredible force as the blocks shift. However, not all earthquakes are major incidents.

  • Commuter town
San Rafael has a bit of a reputation as a commuter town. The after-work entertainment options are a little more limited than in larger cities. There are still some options, but the young professionals in the population also head to San Francisco or other cities for a night out.

  • Expensive
The cost of living in San Rafael is 45% higher than in other parts of the state. The good news is most of this is driven by the housing market. The bad news is that it can still be expensive to use production space in San Rafael.

It would be odd to visit San Rafael without at least driving by the Mission San Rafael that the city is named for. The religious structure is on Fifth Avenue and is a small building by today’s standards, but oozes with so much of the city’s history. There’s a small gift shop located inside.

  • China Camp State Park
China Camp State Park is situated on San Pablo Bay. It’s primarily used for hiking, scenic views, and mountain biking. The area was once a historic shrimp-fishing village of Chinese Americans, hence the name, who used the salt marsh for their livelihood.

  • Museum of International Propaganda
It might be propaganda to put this on the list, but it’s unique and famous enough that it also makes the list. The museum includes political propaganda, posters, and memorabilia. There are 12 countries included in the museum, it’s a unique and interesting look at history.
