Bethany was such an amazing and accommodating host - above and beyond! Very kind, flexible, and timely with the communication! The space itself was just gorgeous and picturesque. Casino, the security guard who was present during our shoot days was also wonderful and totally understanding. I highly recommend this space, especially compared to other school locations listed on this site.

About Summer Camp Locations

Summer camps offer diverse settings, including wooded areas, open fields, and lakes, making them perfect for hosting large camp activities. With nature all around, summer camps provide a peaceful yet exciting setting, perfect for hosting outdoor activities or simply enjoying the fresh air. Many summer camps also feature indoor facilities such as cabins, lodges, and bunkhouses, making them ideal for group gatherings and events of any size.

The camping environment provides hosts with added convenience during their event planning process, as many summer camps include pre-set equipment such as tables, chairs, and even tents to help create a comfortable atmosphere without having additional items shipped or installed. Many summer campgrounds also come equipped with amenities such as basketball courts, volleyball nets, and swimming pools to add further entertainment options to the event. Most summer camp locations also have kitchens and commercial-grade cooking equipment to feed the attendees of any event.

With its beautiful outdoor scenery, relaxing environment, easy access to recreational spaces, and modern amenities, summer camps are among the most popular destinations for gatherings in a rustic setting.

The Best Events for Summer Camp Locations

  • Sports Tournaments
Sports tournaments are a classic for summer camps and can include various sports such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, and much more. Activities such as relay races, tug of war, and water balloon fights can add extra fun to the tournament. This is the perfect opportunity to bring together competitive teams or have a friendly game between friends and family.
  • Arts & Crafts Workshops
Campsites provide ample space for creative activities such as painting classes, jewelry making, tie-dyeing shirts, sculpting with clay, and other activities that support self-expression and exploring new hobbies. Providing materials such as paints, fabric, yarn, and beads allows guests to express themselves through art while creating lasting memories of their time together. This activity also encourages collaboration between participants who can work together on group projects or exchange ideas while working on individual pieces separately.
  • Outdoor Movie Night
Hosting an outdoor movie night at a summer camp is the perfect way to enjoy a classic family activity. A large projector and outdoor screen can be set up outside or on the side of one of the cabins for a unique experience. Popcorn and snacks are always necessary for movie night. You can set up a concession stand if you have enough space.
  • Campfire Cookouts
Hosting cookouts around a campfire is a classic way of spending time outdoors while enjoying delicious food with family and friends. It’s easy to organize. Just provide basic cooking supplies such as charcoal grills and firewood, then let your guests cook over the fire pit. You could even add various activities, such as marshmallow roasting competitions or singalongs around the fire for additional entertainment.

What to Look for in Summer Camp Locations

  • Location
The first and foremost consideration is the actual physical location of the camp. Is it within commuting distance? Does it provide easy access to major roads and highways? Is it close enough to the city or other local attractions that guests may desire?
  • Size
The size of the camp can affect everything from the number of people who can attend to the type and quality of facilities available. Large campsites may offer more amenities and activities, such as swimming pools, sports fields, and playgrounds. Still, smaller campsites may be preferable for smaller groups that want a more intimate setting.
  • Setting
Consider what kind of atmosphere will suit your event best. Some locations may be in more natural settings, such as wooded areas, while others offer more urban convenience with shopping centers or restaurants nearby. A remote location may be best if you want something more rustic. However, an urban setting might work better if you need a convenient spot with many activities nearby.
  • Facilities
Once you’ve narrowed down potential locations based on their geographical location and size, look at what kind of amenities they offer. Does the camp provide dorm-style sleep arrangements or cabins? Are there recreational facilities like swimming pools, sports fields, or playgrounds? Do they have adequate restroom facilities or showers? All these factors should be considered when selecting the right summer camp for your event.

How to Make Summer Camp Events Better

  • Utilize the outdoor space
Summer camp settings provide an excellent opportunity to use the outdoors when hosting events. Consider setting up activities outside, such as a scavenger hunt or a game of tag, where participants can get fresh air and explore their surroundings. Also, be mindful of potential hazards and take into account the local climate and weather conditions when planning activities that take place outdoors.
  • Make use of creative decorations
Decorating the venue can create an enjoyable atmosphere for everyone involved by injecting fun into the experience. Look into buying decorations that relate to the theme of your event (e.g., beach-themed decorations for luau parties), or you could even get crafty and make your decorations out of materials found around the summer campgrounds if you have time and access to resources such as paint and fabric scraps.
  • Utilize existing resources
Many summer camps come equipped with various amenities that can be used to make events more enjoyable for participants. For example, if an auditorium is on-site, you could plan movie nights or talent shows. If you find a sports field, you could organize team-building activities. If there is a swimming pool, you could hold poolside games or competitions, and if there is a playground, you could incorporate fun activities for young children, such as face painting or storytelling sessions.
  • Consider food options
If food will be served during or after the activity, it’s essential to consider what food should be offered and ensure there are enough options for everyone attending. Providing snacks before or during can help keep energy levels up, while planning a meal at the end can create an enjoyable atmosphere following a successful activity session.
  • Designate Areas for Relaxation
Designating areas dedicated to relaxation and leisurely activities, such as reading books or playing board games with other campers after strenuous physical activities, is essential. Having designated chill-out zones allows campers to recharge their batteries and bond with each other through shared experiences among peers during the event.
