The restaurant is a neighborhood bistro and bar delivering one of the most lively and welcoming dining experiences in Los Angeles, including delicious food and libations, friendly service and a laidback, unpretentious atmosphere.
Located on the second floor of a thoughtfully restored Masonic Hall in the heart of L.A.'s Highland Park, the restaurant exudes vintage-era warmth and charm, with a dining room designed by L.A.-based Design, Bitches, and a menu and hospitality approach intended to celebrate and continue the building's nearly century-long history as a community gathering place.
Chef Hovig Agop's Mediterranean menu offers a range of modern dips, salads, small plates and entrees at affordable price points, making it an ideal destination for both everyday dining and special occasions.
The bar program includes beer, wine and creative "fast craft" cocktails that playfully pay homage to the establishment's Masonic temple past, such as the Chapter Sweetheart, Hall Grog and Johnny the Giant (a tribute to eight-foot-tall silent film star John Aasen, who was inducted into the Masons in 1924).
Security per guard: $150.00

> The space - 1200 square feet of wheelchair accessible indoor space, 40 person capacity (seating for 25), 1 unisex washroom. For events requiring an alcoholic bar set up, we can provide a counter, sinks, water, recycling, garbages, and a moderate sized ice machine. The sound system is quite decent for most non-music focused events.
> 1-2 staff - All rentals include myself and/or another person on site strictly as liaisons for you throughout the event. Depending on the nature of your event, we can either stay out of the way and leave you to it, or we can offer our services as professional baristas - making espresso based beverages or pretty much anything else from our usual menu (drinks paid separately). Please feel free to message me to discuss your unique needs and vision.
> All alcohol, mixes, lemons/limes and cups. As well as any other bar supplies you may need. Minimal fridge space available, please bring coolers if you need to keep a large amount of drinks cold.
> Clean up. Please ensure all tables and chairs are placed back in position, garbage and recycling is gathered, and the general space is cleaned up to the best of your ability. The space is a fully operational cafe during the day from 6am-5pm so it will be necessary to work around our products in some ways.
> For music focused events you will need to supply your own sound system and audio gear.
About “The Bean” :
What started over 18 years ago as a love for coffee and people has become The Bean, as our regulars call it. A family run business from day one, we are a cozy, welcoming home away from home for the community of East Vancouver and travellers alike. Enjoy our hand crafted coffee and fresh baked pastries while catching up with friends, or escaping into your book. We pride ourselves on damn good beverages and strive for an authentic, fun vibe. So no matter who you are, you can be sure you will find a smile, a sassy remark, and delicious treat with your name on it at The Laughing Bean. We have put a lot of intention into our space over the last few years, completing various renovations and updates, making it an ideal space for hosting a wide variety of functions. This landscape has served as the canvas for many of our own private parties and music events (deep house anyone?), and now we would like to extend the space to you.
*Available for day time/film rentals from 6am-6pm for a price of $3000 per day (because we would need to shut down the cafe)
*More photos coming soon!
