We filmed a 3-camera interview on the loft side of the space and a 2-camera DTC segment on the window side. Very unique space in that you get the two different looks in one location. Plenty of space for production, talent and clients. Freight elevator that opens right onto the sidewalk. Ample street parking on 16th. Capturing perfect audio is a challenge as you're right off a major highway and you're in downtown (sirens, motorcycles, etc) so be prepared to boom AND lav. Tristan is an awesome site manager and delivered on everything that was promised. Highly reco this space.

Kitty was very kind and accommodating. When we accidentally broke a glass candle holder, she did not freak out. She just wanted to be sure we'd gotten what we needed -- which we did.

I produced a fitness workout video production here. Very spacious and clean. We had 14 people on set and felt like we could’ve fit 50. Accommodating host. Paid parking lots are 5 blocks away, if needed. In general, we had no trouble with parking for our early morning call time. Freight elevator made it convenient for my crew. I would definitely book here again.

Libby was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process and her home is incredible! An incredible space to film with large rooms, wide hallways and lots of character. There are also churches close-by where you can rent crew parking.

Things to Consider for Your Video Shoot in Los Angeles

For good reason, Los Angeles is constantly featured on the top filming locations list. There are always video shoots happening around the city, and before adding your project to the list, here is a rundown of how you stand to benefit from the creative hub, alongside solutions to common challenges you might face around town.

Advantages

  • Los Angeles has incredible views, from the architecture displayed by buildings in the Arts District to Griffith Park and Mount Hollywood. Coupled with lovely year-round weather, the city's outdoor spaces double as perfect video shoot locations in Los Angeles.

  • Pack up your athletic apparel because LA is also a health-conscious city. You'll find everything from yoga studios to swimming pool locations prepared to host your fitness-related video production.

  • Los Angeles has an endless pool of talent, making staffing your production easier. You can hire top cinematographers, producers, directors, and music video talent locally.

Disadvantages

  • Public transport won't get you around town conveniently, so you are better off renting a private vehicle. The limited reach is the biggest issue, but you and your team will easily move from one film location to the next with a dedicated production vehicle.

  • Downtown LA always has jam-packed roads, so search for a studio or filming location in the outlying neighborhoods.

  • California's wildfires and other natural disasters can strike anytime, so protect your filming space with Giggster's optional liability insurance.

The Best Video Shoot Locations in Los Angeles

Giggster has many music video shoot locations across Los Angeles, helping you reserve a space near Venice Beach, Griffith Park, or an area filled with natural light. Here are our suggestions for the activities each different music video shoot location can support so that you can get ideas and reserve the best space.

  • Film Studios – Interior Scenes. A film studio is a controlled setting for all productions with indoor scenes. Renting this professional setting gives you access to industry-standard cameras, lighting gear, green screens, and other features.

  • Outdoor Spaces – Films. There's nothing quite like getting in tune with nature, and it translates beautifully on the screen. Gardens, rooftop venues, patios, and terraces are some of the outdoor video shoot locations in Los Angeles.

  • Photo Studios – Music Videos. Photo studios are traditionally the backdrop for photo shoots but can double as filming locations. Most have everything you need in a production space, including lots of natural light and room for crew members, talent, and equipment.

  • Private Homes – TV Commercials. Host a TV advertisement shoot on a beachfront property. You can use each bedroom and outdoor area for different scenes. Giggster has many other options, including downtown LA loft apartments.

  • Coffee Shops – Meeting Sequences. A coffee shop is the quintessential on-screen meeting location. It's a versatile set and can add real-life scenarios to a movie's cutaway sequences, provide a backdrop for an advertisement, or produce music videos.

How to Plan Your Video Shoot in Los Angeles

Renting a space from our website out of the many video shoot locations in Los Angeles puts you one step closer to achieving cinematic perfection. Besides finding a cinematic backdrop, you'll need to plan and leave nothing to chance before getting on set, and these pointers can help:

  • Start Looking For Shoot Locations Early – Music video shoots need enough time for location scouting, set construction, or venue prep. Giggster is an all-in-one database for top video shoot locations in Hollywood; refine your search by budget, features, location, and activity to identify and book a production setting.

  • Create a Filming Schedule – A filming schedule is a production calendar that outlines what you want to record or capture each day. It guides every other shoot aspect, particularly transportation logistics.

  • Get Permits Early – Los Angeles, CA, and many other cities require filmmakers to get location permits, mostly when recording footage on public property. You'll often also need a parking permit for production vehicles and drones to capture aerial footage.

  • Collaborate with the Community – Community support can help you have a smoother filming process. Team up with local film professionals and vendors; they can point you in the right direction when you need assistance with different filming aspects.

Saving Money on Video Shoots in Los Angeles

Recording a video doesn't have to be expensive, especially when you location scout with Giggster. We can help you rent affordable video shoot spaces in Los Angeles with all the creative features needed to create your screen masterpiece. Use our tips to save even more on your next shoot.

Look both in and beyond Downtown LA.

Reserving a centrally located studio is convenient, but filming costs add up in other ways. Travel considerations and permit application requirements for street shoots can increase costs, and you'll lose time in the traffic rush. You can easily work around these issues by booking venues outside the downtown area.

Reserve a venue with a bright interior.

A screen gem is a space with high ceilings and huge windows that flood natural light into the room. A well-lit room will save you time and money because you won't need to get backup lighting.

Does the shoot venue have on-site parking?

Parking issues are inconvenient and can add to your shoot costs. A property with on-site parking will save you the hassle of applying for permits to use street spaces or renting a separate lot.
