Great space with super accommodating host, highly recommend!

This rooftop location is great! It has a lot of space which offers a good amount of creative flexibility. The stairwell to get up there is minimal which makes loading gear pretty seamless. We brought a dolly up and it fit perfectly. The concrete is smooth as well so we didn't have to lay any track (although having track is always nice). The aesthetic can definitely serve as a New York rooftop. Because you're surrounded by tall buildings it's actually somewhat quiet for DTLA -- we didn't have any issues when we were running audio. It also has similar qualities to the rooftop in, "500 Days of Summer". No matter what the scene, this spot offers a more secluded charm than your traditional rooftops in DTLA. I would absolutely shoot here again!

Pros and Cons of Warehouse Space in Los Angeles

As the film and television production capital of the world, you know there are a lot of benefits to choosing a warehouse space in Los Angeles. But of course, there are pros and cons to every city.

Advantages

  • A big talent pool

You will not have any trouble finding cast or crew if you need them. Los Angeles is the perfect place to find them no matter what you need.

  • The weather is great

It never really gets too cold or too hot in Los Angeles, so you do not have to worry about coats or snow boots. But you may want to grab a bikini or swim trunks and some sunscreen for the beach.

  • Plenty of room

Los Angeles is one of the largest cities in the United States so there is plenty of space to move around. Whether you are looking for warehouse space for a show, popup, or production, there are a variety of warehouse spaces in Los Angeles to choose from.

  • The view is stunning

No matter where you are, expect a wonderful view. The city of Los Angeles has it all from mountains to beaches and the blue skies and mild weather makes it all even better.

  • Eating healthy is easy

It seems like everyone in Los Angeles is health conscious so you will not have any trouble finding health food stores and eateries in the city and there are tons of workout studios and gyms as well.

Disadvantages

  • Public transportation is lacking

Los Angeles is not big on public transportation like a major city should be. And because LA is such a big city, you cannot really get anywhere without a vehicle. That leads to horrible traffic.

  • Traffic is a nightmare

You cannot expect to be anywhere on time unless you leave early in Los Angeles because you are going to get stuck in traffic just about anywhere you go. There are four million residents, thousands of visitors, and a serious lack of public transportation so just expect to wait in traffic.

  • High cost of living

Like many other big cities, Los Angeles is expensive. The cost of living in LA is almost 50% higher than anywhere in the United States so don’t expect to save money on a shopping spree in this city.

  • The crime rate is high

Although it is not as bad as some places, Los Angeles has a higher crime rate than many cities. With 32 crimes per 1,000 residents, the chance of being a victim is one in 31. Stick to neighborhoods like Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, and Riviera.

  • Natural disasters are common

The chance of experiencing an earthquake, wildfire, or mudslide is higher than in most cities in the United States. However, if you are just going to be in town for a production at a warehouse space in Los Angeles, you should be okay.

  • Santa Monica Pier

Be sure to take a walk along the Santa Monica Pier when you have time. Book a gritty open warehouse space in Los Angeles for your production or show where you can see the Ferris wheel in the distance.

  • The Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Walk of Fame has almost 2,700 stars embedded in the 15 blocks of sidewalks along Vine and Hollywood Boulevard. See famous names like the Beatles, Michael Jackson, and Pink as well as fictional character stars such as Lassie, Mickey Mouse, and Kermit the Frog.
