WoW!! What a great place to shoot in. Beautifully furnished, lots of natural light and plenty of space to work in. Despite only being 450 ft you would never know, it feels more like 700 ft. The price is very very good for the quality of the apartment. I cant say enough great things about my host, Chantal. She went above and beyond for the hospitality. Coffee, drinks and apples were presented beautifully on a tray in the kitchen with a lovely note. Communication was fantastic leading up and on the day. It wont be long before the space gets booked up by many photographers. A definite must see and shoot location! A very happy customer and I will be back again (if its not fully booked now) :)

Things to Consider for Your Class Spaces in Portland

Before you rush to book a venue that you really like, you'd better take into account whether the city itself is suited to your needs.

Advantages

  • The walkability and public transportation of Portland is a great plus! You can easily get around the city without having your own car.

  • There's lots to do and see in Portland in your free time, from the Lloyd Center to the Pittock Mansion and International Rose Test Garden.

  • There's mild weather throughout the year and even though there are dreary grey skies a lot of the time, it's not actually that cold.

Disadvantages

  • Unfortunately, even despite the walkability of the city, traffic conditions in Portland are getting from bad to worse!

  • It doesn't have the multicultural and diverse aspects shared by bigger cities like New York City and Los Angeles.

  • The downside to mild weather throughout the year? Hot and occasionally smoky summers! With natural disasters like wildfires on the rise, summer may not be the most comfortable time.

The Best Type of Venue for Your Classes in Portland

All the meeting room rentals available on Giggster, from among 125 venues, have their own advantages. It's best to thoroughly check out all the details and find out which space is best suited to your own needs!

Meeting Room – For Complete Privacy. You can do so much more with a full meeting room or conference room than just meeting with your business partners. Closed off on all sides but still allowing natural light to shine through from big windows, these meeting rooms allow you to be easy and comfortable even as you take classes.

Classroom – Convenient Teaching Locales. A classroom space available for rent isn't always guaranteed in every city so you'd better take advantage of it where you can. Obviously, these are the best teaching environments that one can think of. The orderly rows of chairs and desks immediately put you in the right mind space while a touch of color on the walls adds warmth to the room.

Theater – Lecture in Style. Full theaters with lecture podiums on the stage or an old church converted into a rehearsal space complete with a stage at the front are excellent for large classes with big numbers of students. You can indulge in your professional development and learn new things while soaking in the grand atmosphere.

Bookshop/Gallery – A Community Feeling. A local community bookshop or art gallery works well for networking events or talks by professional speakers alike. This is a great teaching space on a small, local level. Little nooks and corners make for a little bit of privacy amid all the activity and you can show off the books or artwork that you're speaking about.

Studio – The Most Versatile Locations. A conveniently located studio in the heart of the city with lots of open space is the ideal location for any number of events, whether it's an event like a birthday party or it's a small lecture with a select group of guests. In case you want to record a series of lectures, a recording studio is great for this purpose!

How to Plan a Class in Portland

There's much more to planning any sort of classroom event than just renting out conference rooms for the days and sitting down with a bunch of people there.

Identify Your Audience Knowing your lesson plan and the theme you mean to speak on goes a long way to figuring out what sort of audience you'll be looking for. You can personally invite people to attend your classes or put up fliers in appropriate places to draw an audience.

Find the Ideal Location As we've already seen, Portland has no lack of meeting and classroom spaces. But not everything is well suited to your needs. Going for a more intimate, community feeling or a formal lecture? You'll need different venues for either of those things.

Get Speakers for the Class If you're getting other speakers to lecture for your class, you need to arrange for their schedules and their comfort. This could include pick-ups and drop-offs for them or even booking hotel rooms if they're traveling from some other city. Keep a clear line of communication open.

Arrange for Conveniences A proper learning environment needs to be more than functional. This is the era of high-speed Wi-Fi and a lot of work is done on the internet. So if the venue doesn't have reliable high-speed internet, you'd better arrange for it. Convenience also extends to clean public toilets and the ease of access to the venue.

How to Save Money on Your Class in Portland

Hosting a class shouldn't really blow a huge hole in your pocket, even accounting for the venue rental. But let's see some ways in which you can reduce the costs.

Make use of free advertising techniques.

In the age of the internet, sending out emails to all the people you'd want to see at your lecture series or posting about it on social media is a great way to get students and participants without spending a dime!

Don't serve food and drinks.

Yes, it's one thing to serve food and drinks at every single event. But there isn't strictly any need for that. After all, people are attending for the knowledge and opportunity of learning new things, not for the food. If you must serve food (especially for long classes), then go for light bites and coffee or juice.

Take full advantage of the amenities of a venue.

A properly equipped recording studio with a sound system or a classroom space with desks and chairs, each venue comes with a set of essential features! So it's best to book according to your needs so you don't need to rent any furniture.
