About Glendale
The Verdugo Mountains create a stunning backdrop for the city of Glendale that sits at its base. Even though it’s only 10 miles from downtown Los Angeles, the rugged beauty of the mountains and the community feeling of this city of 196,000 people makes it feel like you are hundreds of miles away.
Glendale started as a residential and commuter city and has grown to a location worthy of notice on its own merits. Sure, there is still a largely residential area, but also businesses, shopping (the 15-acre shopping center, Americana at Brand, plus other opportunities), restaurants, museums, and entertainment.
Film Studio Space Options in Glendale
Luckily, shopping isn’t the only opportunity. The film studio space options in Glendale are growing in popularity because of the ideal location, proximity to Los Angeles, and the professional suite of services available from the companies in and around the city.
- Catering
We all have a friend or colleague that asks who’s catering and what they’re bringing for every project we work on. Catering companies in Glendale have you covered – and will guarantee that person will not be disappointed.

The furniture and equipment rental companies in Glendale will make sure you never experience either of these emotions.
- Transportation
Private transportation helps you start and end the day on the right note as the professional driver transports you safely, making you feel important, and lends an ear to the trials and triumphs of the day’s filming activities.

Pros and Cons of Film Studio Space in Glendale
Halfway up a mountain hike isn’t the best time to decide you should train more for the climb. The same thing is true with booking a film studio location, be prepared before you go. So, here are the pros and cons of film studio space in Glendale.
Advantages
- Location
Glendale wins the location prize. It’s close to Los Angeles, recreation opportunities, and has the companies and services you need to produce a professional film. These are huge advantages when you’re working on a deadline, trying to maximize your time, or realizing that you’re missing some key piece of equipment at the last minute.
- Logistics dream
Furthermore, Glendale is a logistics dream because of the location. The 10 miles from downtown Los Angeles mean you can use that city and its airport, interstates, or whatever else you need as the transportation hub to get you to Glendale. Instead of spending your time traveling, you can spend your time in the studio.
- Sunshine
The sun always seems to shine in Southern California, and it’s one advantage that never gets old. We love walking outside to a blue, sunny sky. It definitely improves the mood and our creative ability.
Disadvantages
- Cha-Ching
If the word “cha-ching” makes you think of an old-school cash register, you’re on the right track. Glendale is an expensive city and will require a healthier budget line item than some other locations. But hey, the extra expense is probably worth it in a city as nice as this one.
- Lack of public transportation
There’s another reason to love all the private transportation companies in Glendale, they are your best option if you don’t have your own car. The city started as a residential and commuter city, and one of the ways this is still evident is in the lack of public transportation.
- Evacuations
There is a fire and earthquake risk in Glendale that can prompt evacuation notices or otherwise disrupt a productive session at the film studio. It’s California, so you’re probably aware of the fire and earthquake risk already, but if not, please pay attention.
Famous Locations in Glendale
- Beaudry Fire Road Loop
The Beaudry Fire Road Loop is in the Verdugo Mountains Open Space Preserve and is one of our favorite trails because it mixes in elevation changes (and the extra effort that comes with them), and scenic vistas as well as nature. It’s a favorite among hikers and mountain bikers, and the best views are near Tongva Peak.
- Hostetter Saddle
If you really want the big picture of Glendale, hike to Hostetter Saddle, a vista point in the Verdugo Mountains. Getting here is a little trickier. You’ll need to start out at the forest gate located on La Tuna Canyon Road. From there, it’s 3.38 miles up to Hostetter Saddle. On a clear day, or even a slightly hazy day, the views of Glendale are breathtaking.
- Museum of Neon Art
Yes, the Museum of Neon Art (or MONA, as it’s referred to here) is really a thing. You can’t read about it or look at pictures, this really needs to be experienced. As you may have guessed, the museum is dedicated to preserving and celebrating neon art. So, grab your sunglasses and head over to this Glendale original.
