This was a beautiful location to shoot a short film, the interior building is unique and there's enough room to set up equipment. The surrounding environment is also breathtaking and there's a nearby creek that's nice to walk around. There was some issues with sound as there was work being done on the adjoined properties but other than it was a wonderful place to shoot!

Our company, Experience Elemental, launched our nature and forest therapy retreats here. The property is magical, the hillside is so beautiful and there are countless areas to explore throughout the grounds. It's quiet, but easy to get to from all over LA, and the nature makes it feel like you're totally out of the city life. There's ample parking, and the structures are clean and welcoming, with several different buildings and areas to suit your needs. We intend to book with David again. He is helpful, friendly, and responsive. Highly recommend.

We rented the Topanga Sanctuary for a day event over the weekend — wow! We were thoroughly impressed. What a beautiful spot for us to gather. Plenty of parking made it convenient for everyone. The amenities were exceptional — we had 10 yoga mats, bolsters, blankets, and water, all contributing to a seamless experience. The sanctuary has a cabin-like feel with exposed wood — it was charming and had an energy that enhanced the overall atmosphere. This was perfect for our activities focused on restoration, harmony, meditation, and centering ourselves. The serene beauty, coupled with the sanctuary’s unique aesthetic, made for a truly special and memorable experience. We're grateful you gave us the opportunity to use your wonderful venue. Thank you! We’ll be back!

This place was awesome! It had great exterior locations for filming a short film. The interiors of the buildings were all so unique and would be perfect filming or photography locations as well. David was so nice and welcoming, and helped guide us where we needed to go each morning. I would definitely recommend coming here if you want a great place for your next film shoot!

David and Leah's spot was perfect for our music video shoot -- we had a great time and felt super welcome at the property. David was present to answer any questions we might have and even graciously offered to give us a tour of the entire property. Everything went well for us -- however the only thing I would note is that this is also an airbnb property and upon my crew's arrival there were 3-4 other guests actively using the kitchen and living room area that we rented out and were intending to shoot our music video in. The guests were respectful but definitely hung around longer than we would've liked asking us questions about our project. I was unaware that the space we rented was a shared space until David let me know that there would be some people coming in and out of the stone house kitchen and living room. Within an hour and a half the Airbnb guests cleared out and were no longer a nuisance but in general I think when someone books this listing I think David should tell airbnb guests that they won't have access to the living room and kitchen at the stone house once the production crew arrives (as we paid for that space and needed it for our shoot). I think there was probably just an overlap of an hour or two... but either way I think that's something in the future that could be laid out more clearly for a potential renter as well as a potential airbnb guest! As far as shooting video goes -- having random people around slowing down production down on an already jam packed day isn't ideal. This is really the only complaint I had of the property -- besides that we had an exceptional time and would definitely book with David and Leah again.

This set is one of the favorites that I have worked on in California. With a bit of a drive and some rough roads, it's a great spot for people to film any kind of cabin "in the woods" type scene. The owner is super nice and helps out with any additional info needed.

It's a pleasure to recommend this beautiful home and give thanks to the owners, Ida and Robert, who rescued our student film shoot when we lost a location last minute, making it possible to finish the film on schedule. Ida and Robert are the perfect hosts. They were always available to answer questions, accommodated reasonable rearranging of their furniture, and were patient with the bustle of the student filmmakers. Their positiveness was greatly appreciated by the crew and made our two days with them productive and fun. They were a key reason the students had a positive educational experience, learning what it's like to shoot on location. Additionally, we got great footage because the house and property was perfect for the time period of our story and attractive altogether. We'll definitely return at the next opportunity.

Ida was great to communicate with, very responsive. The location is good for small crews. There is parking and bathrooms available (for a fee) in the church right across the street which is very convenient since parking in the area is restricted.

Amazing host! She was incredibly accommodating not to mention kind and easy to talk to. Her home was perfect for our shoot and we'd love to come back any time!

This was a dream location and Ida is an angel on earth. I have never had such a smooth and joyful experience shooting at any location ever. Ida went out of her way to accommodate us and truly went above and beyond what any other home owner/site representative would even consider. Our crew was on the larger side for her beautiful home but we still managed and Ida was there to help us problem solve and we are so pleased with the results of our film. Parking was very easy, we ate lunch in the back and front yard, we never had to worry about the storage or safety of our gear and even the animals that live there did not effect our shoot. I cannot emphasize enough what a dream experience this was, mainly due to Ida and we cannot thank her enough!

The home looked even better in person than in the photos and was absolutely perfect for my Period Film. But, the highlight is Ida. She is amazing. A warm generous person that bent over backward to ensure all went well. And it did. If this type of style of home is what you're looking for, book it.

Not only was this house perfect for our shoot specifically, but Ida was very accommodating and sweet during the entire process. She was happy to let me do a location scout prior to our shoot, asked if we had any special requests, and ensured that the areas of the house we planned on filming were cleared / straightened up. Would highly recommend!

About Treehouse Locations

Treehouse locations are the perfect place to host various events and celebrations. From rustic outdoor weddings to creative corporate meetings, treehouses provide a stunning backdrop for all kinds of occasions. These outdoor venues offer an experience unlike any other, allowing guests to connect with nature in a unique setting.

The treehouses come in all different sizes and shapes, from large structures with multiple levels to smaller buildings with basic amenities like chairs, tables, and campfire pits. Depending on the size and scope of the occasion, they can be decorated with twinkling lights, colorful flowers, foliage, or even a natural stone fireplace. An added bonus is that many of these locations also feature open-air decks overlooking lush forests or mountain ranges that lend an extra touch of beauty.

Not only are treehouse locations visually appealing, but they also offer practical advantages for event planners. With ample room for both indoor and outdoor activities, there’s plenty of room for diverse layouts, catered meals, live music performances, or interactive games. Most of these venues also come equipped with bathrooms, kitchen facilities, or nearby cabins for overnight stays.

The Best Events for Treehouse Locations

  • Birthday Parties
For those who love nature and the outdoors, a treehouse location would make the perfect venue for a special bash! It’s a great place to host an outdoor gathering with scheduled activities like scavenger hunts, face painting, or other games. Guests can spend time birdwatching, stargazing, barbecues, picnics, outdoor games, and taking in the natural beauty of their surroundings.

  • Weddings
A wedding celebrated at a treehouse location is sure to be unforgettable! The views from up high provide a stunning backdrop for photos and vows, while guests can sit back and enjoy delicious food and stunning decor spread throughout the venue. A treehouse also allows couples to choose their preferred type of celebration, from an intimate elopement ceremony to a large reception with multiple events held over multiple days.

  • Corporate Events
Companies planning offsite functions, team-building activities, or conferences can take advantage of the natural beauty and rustic charm of a treehouse setting. The tranquil surroundings provide the right atmosphere for exercises such as problem-solving, trust-building, and communication games. Ample acreage around the venue also provides plenty of space for outdoor activities such as archery or scavenger hunts.

  • Yoga Retreats
The peacefulness of being surrounded by nature makes this kind of location ideal for yoga retreats. Participants get an opportunity to escape from everyday life and focus on inner peace and exploration through meditation practices. In addition to yoga classes, treehouse venues are also ideal for relaxing activities such as hikes or nature walks around the property.

What to Look for in Treehouse Locations

  • The Environment
The treehouse location should provide an appropriate atmosphere for the event. For example, if it’s a family gathering or wedding, then the surrounding terrain should be private and secluded to ensure that there is no outside interference. It is important to find a treehouse in a safe area with no risk of natural disasters occurring during the event.
  • Location Accessibility
Make sure you consider how easy it is to access the treehouse in terms of navigation and whether the vendors or service providers can easily get to and from the site. If there are elderly or disabled guests attending, check for access from nearby roads and see what type of transportation is needed from other areas in order to reach the venue. Consider parking restrictions that are in place or if the treehouse’s address offers ample parking space.

  • Comfort & Amenities
For multi-day functions, it’s important to choose a treehouse with amenities such as air-conditioning, hot water, and comfortable beds. In essence, the venue should be equipped with things that would make life more convenient for guests who are staying in the treehouse overnight. It’s also helpful if there are bathrooms onsite so that guests won’t have to trek a distance from the treehouse to access the facilities.

  • Atmosphere
When choosing a treehouse location, pay attention to how it looks aesthetically and the potential to appeal to guests. Does it have an expansive view of rolling hills or lush greenery? Does it have enough natural sunlight coming in? Is there an outdoor space where people can linger around and enjoy conversation? All these factors contribute to creating an enjoyable atmosphere at the event and will allow everyone attending to feel relaxed and comfortable throughout their stay in this unique setting.

How to Make Treehouse Events Better

  • Invest in Quality Seating
Comfortable seating should be the top priority when hosting a special occasion at a treehouse location. If your guest list is quite sizeable and you plan on having the event inside the treehouse, make sure to invest in quality furniture like benches, chairs, and cushions. Overall, make sure the available furnishings are comfortable enough for guests to relax while engaging in activities during your event.

  • Enhance the Ambiance
Decorating the treehouse helps set the tone for your event. Ensure windows are open or wide enough to let natural light flood into the space to create a tranquil atmosphere. String up lights around doorways and windows to add color and some subtle illumination after dark for those evening events. Hang festive banners from the walls or ceiling to give off a celebratory vibe or opt for cozy fabrics like throws and pillows to create an intimate atmosphere.

  • Offer Refreshments
When choosing what refreshments to serve at your event, think about practicality first before going all out with fancy dishes, ask yourself questions like “Will this food still taste good if it gets cold/warm” and “How many people can I feed with this dish?” If you’re serving drinks be aware that glass containers can break easily at higher levels due to strong winds so opt for plastic cups instead!

  • Provide Entertainment Options
Schedule fun entertainment options for those attending your event! From board games and cards to karaoke machines and remote-controlled vehicles, there are plenty of options available that will help keep your guests entertained.
