Top Events for Apartment Venues

When people think of apartments, a comfortable and affordable living space often comes to mind. But they're more than just a place to live. Whether you're a property owner, an emerging talent, a photographer, or a content creator, here are some of the best events that can thrive in unique apartment venues.

  • Video Shoots – Beyond the Studio. Workout videos, period dramas, a heartwarming rom-com, and all that everyday stuff like living room hangouts and kitchen conversations—you name it. There are numerous scenes you can bring to life on video within the walls of an apartment. It's a versatile setting for any story or message you want to capture and share with your audience.

  • Photo Shoots – Unscripted Beauty. An apartment can be a nice change from a typical photography studio with white walls. It's homey, relaxing, and inviting, and offers a backdrop that feels natural and less staged. If you still want a studio vibe, rent an apartment with an office or studio with lots of natural light.

  • Private Parties –Apartment Soirees. It's not only the entertainment industry that can benefit from Giggster's apartment rentals. You can host a range of events, from elegant dinner parties and birthday bashes with close friends and family to casual game nights and baby showers, all in a welcoming apartment. Choose your vibe—a vintage, romantic, laid-back, or dreamy—we have a list of the best locations for your crew members and guests.

  • Corporate Events – Inspire and Connect. We're not talking about those huge company-wide conferences, but smaller, more focused gatherings, such as company dinners, product launches, team-building workshops, and meetings. Check out our historic villa in Brooklyn, with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as a manicured lawn and lush garden for gatherings.

  • Ceremonies and Reception – Elevated Elegance and Comfort. Why wait for a popular banquet hall near you to be available when you can book an apartment with outdoor spaces for a ceremony and reception? You can have an intimate ceremony in a huge living space and party under the stars in the backyard or lawn area.

Apartment Location Must-Haves

Trying to find apartment filming locations near you, but don't know where to start your venue hunt? You've come to the right place! We'll give you a few ideas to narrow your search and book the perfect backdrop that will help you realize your vision.

Does it look the part? You probably skip the studio because you don't want to build a whole set from scratch. But if you have to spend a lot of time and effort dressing it up to get the look you want, isn't that the same kind of hassle? That's why it makes sense to choose an apartment with a layout, vibe, and design that work for your scenes.

What are the light sources available? Even a suspense or horror film relies on effective lighting to create a sense of suspense and fear, so check if the apartment has ample light. Large windows that let in natural light can be a game-changer, as you don't have to spend a lot on lighting equipment to make your shots look great.

Is there enough space for your crew and equipment? You need enough room for your crew and equipment to move around comfortably, but a massive, empty apartment might not feel as realistic for certain scenes. Find that sweet spot.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Renting an Apartment Location

The homey feel, controlled environment for filming, and the real-life vibe are just a few of many reasons why you should book an apartment on Giggster for your next production. But before you proceed to the pre-production process, you must be aware of its drawbacks to avoid unwanted surprises later.

Advantages

  • You can't beat the authenticity of an actual apartment for certain scenes or events. It feels relatable and has a certain genuine vibe that the audience can connect with on a different level.

  • Apartments come in all styles, budgets, and layouts, from retro and vintage to modern and classy, so you're sure to find one that aligns with your vision or narrative.

  • Most apartments are located in convenient and accessible areas, which makes it easy for your crew and guests to get to, whether they're driving to the venue or using public transportation.

Disadvantages

  • You typically can't make major changes to the structure or permanent fixtures of the apartment, so you must work within the setup and available space.

  • Most apartments have limited parking spots. If it's in a busy area, it can be a pain to find parking for all your equipment, filming vehicles, and crew members.

  • You must visit the neighborhood at different times of the day, as noise issues can be a problem, especially in a shared space.

Hidden Costs of Filming at an Apartment Location

So, you have creative ideas and found potential apartment spaces to help bring them to life? Before the director yells "action!" make sure you have a good handle on all the costs involved—it will save you from budget headaches later on.

It's more than just the space rental.

It's easy to assume that the apartment rental covers everything, but that's not always the case. There are other items you might need to budget for, such as overtime fees, security costs, building management charges, etc.

Have you got the permits?

Filming permits aren’t always cheap. It usually depends on the location—if you're filming outside or need to block off areas. Do your homework and familiarize yourself with the local area’s filming rules and permit requirements to avoid penalties.

Who's cleaning the apartment?

Don't just pack up and leave after the shoot. You'd want to leave the place clean and even better than when you arrived. Simple vacuuming won't be enough, especially if you filmed for long periods and had a lot of people, so you might need to hire a professional cleaning crew to take care of it.
