North Berkeley Craftsman built in 1918 with later 1972 addition of a Echlier-style sunroom with one wall of glass doors that open onto the large patio and lush, expansive garden. One of the largest properties in the North Berkeley flats (a few blocks from North Berkeley BART, Monterey Market, Gioia Pizza, and great cafes, sushi, and bottle shop). The home retains its historical charm and detailed craftsmanship. Though centrally located, the property is located on a somewhat obscure 2.5-block street that is so quiet that you may very well find out cat sleeping in the middle of the street when you arrive. In the serene garden behind the house, you will find our art barn. Originally it was a greenhouse, but when we moved in we transformed it into a ceramics and textiles studio, including a professional pottery wheel and art supplies galore! Enjoy! Through a gate, you will find our lovely garden cottage with fully stocked fridge, bar, bathroom, wood stove, and queen bed. The main house also includes two bathrooms, a kitchen, washer and dryer, sunroom with tons of board games, a living room, lots of musical instruments (including a big drum set), wood stove, large sunroom, office, and tons of cool art. There’s plenty of room for social gatherings, dining, relaxing, workshops, parties, retreats - you name it. My husband and I are both creators and entrepreneurs - we are pretty outside the box and love to learn and host gatherings, with an eye towards creating lasting, ideally transformative memories that include expansive thinking, authentic connections between diverse people, and just having fun. I shoot lots of videos on site for my own YouTube channel and photography. Ideally located on one of the most quiet little streets in Berkeley, we are also just a few short blocks to an eclectic mix of parks, fine (but also affordable) restaurants (including Hopkins St and the Gourmet Ghetto), cafes, markets, and specialty shops. In short, this property is stunning and fun. We even have a huge trampoline for you to jump around on and a fire pit for you to roast marshmallows to make s'mores - or just enjoy wine and cheese and fancy olives or whatever. We have lots of top-notch booze to make cocktails (feel free to pick lemons and limes from our trees for a little zest). For video productions, photo shoots, and events, we have a huge variety of props, decorations, lighting equipment, backdrops, a green screen, as well as two dozen chairs, four additional fold-out tables, and more. If you’re here at night, we have outdoor heaters, fire pits, and awesome and plentiful accent lighting that give ambience on our patio and show off our love of landscaping (I’m particularly proud of our succulent rock garden and 35 native fruit trees :). Gardening is my drug of choice! Everything except our bedrooms is accessible to you during your visit. Parking is a breeze, and I’ll handle the basic set up for $25 - just have a look at our “prop shop,” and tell me how you want me to arrange things, and you can make whatever revisions as you see fit. We offer 30% discounts for nonprofit organizations, artists, and educators. Flat rate for groups up to eight people, $20/hour for each additional person. No one under 18 is allowed without at least equal number of adults. Oh, and we LOVE dogs! Our back garden is fully gated, and well-behaved dogs (I.e., no incessant barking or digging in our garden) are allowed for a fee of $25/dog.
