We ended up using the location in midtown instead, right in the middle of Times Square. Great space, very accommodating. Would rent this space again!

Absolutely LOVED shooting here! The location was great, even larger than it looked in the pictures, tons of natural light and different spaces to use, but most of all, Keith went above and beyond the call of duty from the moment we first messaged until the last C-Stand was loaded onto the grip truck. He helped us get our documents in order, helped us scout and pre-light, helped with setup, prep, and even shooting, and pretty much deserved a producer credit for the work he did. All the while sporting a great attitude. Truly one of the greats! This was was easily the best location experience I've had in my 16 years of making movies and tv shows.

Where to begin! We absolutely loved not only the amazing decor of the apartment, the layout of the place with different levels, great different areas and amazing patio and two massive bedrooms but also working with the owner Jarrett. He went above and beyond to work with us on this shoot and we couldn't have wished for a better place to shoot a music video in. Everything production wise worked out perfectly reg electricity, internet and storage, we were able to use the garage for load in and had our crafty set up in there as well. I can highly recommend shooting here, the place really delivered on everything we hoped it would be and more!

This is a beautiful and hard-to-find location. Among the chief assets are the original Victorian wallpaper and vintage furnishings, sturdy and spacious construction, and the high ceilings, which let us pop up jib shots, shift furniture and equipment, and do Steadicam work with no spatial restrictions at all. This house is huge; three floors, all incredible. The owner is a nice guy, very no-nonsense and easy to work with. We shot here for two long days and got a ton of awesome material. Things to know: -There are a limited number of usable outlets. I wouldn't run an M18 out of the wall here. If you have multi-light setups, be prepared to roll out a lot of stingers. We brought a Yeti solar generator with us; it's silent, and came in handy. -Natural light is variable; it's best in the kitchen area, but bring your 5600s if you're shooting anywhere else. -There's a very picturesque bathroom on the second floor - it cannot be used. The water cannot be turned on, the toilet can't be flushed. -There are a very large amount of antiques around the house. Be careful with them; they have to go back in their original spots if you move them. I recommend a walk-through visit before booking here.

New York Art Deco Rental Locations for Your Event

New York City is where many have settled to chase after their American dream. You've probably seen the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Chrysler Building, and many other NYC landmarks in an endless list of big-screen flicks. Central Park West provides breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline, while Columbus Circle puts you in the middle of a flurry of commerce combined with culture.

The Upper East Side offers a world-renowned, high-end shopping experience. Brooklyn has eye-catching brownstones, and other NYC neighborhoods display timeless construction styles, including Art Deco. This architectural style rose during the Great Depression. While America struggled, New York found a way to create.

Iconic Art Deco buildings include the Raymond Hood and Ralph Walker-designed Radio City Music Hall and the LaGuardia Airport Marine Air Terminal. Art Deco flourishes worldwide, and buildings with this construction style are popular backdrops for events and content creation. Giggster can help you find event spaces featuring Art Deco architecture for your upcoming project.

Why Choose Giggster for an Art Deco Venue?

New York has Art Deco buildings across Manhattan and the other boroughs. However, Art Deco architecture is not a preserve for Wall Street and the financial district. Many New York skyscrapers and residential buildings with landmark status adopted the zoning laws that permitted the construction of soaring Art Deco structures. Giggster can help you book an event space with gothic tracery, marble walls, and geometric patterns, among other Art Deco elements.

  • Are you looking for a filming location featuring Art Deco architecture in its interiors and facade? Book a brownstone with a mid-century modern finish for your photo shoot or product launch. It's an added plus if the exterior has a brick wall or, in the case of a renovated or new building, the structure retains most of its original features.

  • Book an outdoor Art Deco masterpiece as your next event setting. Giggster has a selection of flower and plant stores, jewelry shops, and second-hand/vintage addresses that can host your paint-and-sip or sip-and-shop function.

  • An open-floor art gallery with exposed beams, a high ceiling, and white concrete walls makes an excellent production backdrop. The location also suits an art workshop or other creative event.

  • Would an Art Deco skyscraper enhance your screen project? Film New York's tallest building from the vantage of a loft terrace or the upper levels of an apartment building.

  • Content Creation – Apartment Houses. • Weddings – Castles. A castle is a timeless venue set on acres of land. It usually has towers, stone walls, and beautiful interiors, creating a lovely setting for wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Essentials for an Art Deco-style Space in New York

Giggster can help you locate an Art Deco building suited for your event or film production, whether you want a structure with a brick facade and sleek interiors. Knowing what features to look for when choosing a venue for your next function is helpful.

What details are on the listing? Each Giggster listing has a details section that describes the property's style. It's the easiest way to know if the venue is characterized as a Deco building, especially if it's crucial for your event or production to film in an authentically mid-century, Bohemian, or dated property.

What Art Deco features does the building have? Geometric shapes, clean lines, terra cotta walls, and murals define Art Deco architecture.

Can the venue host your event? Some Deco buildings can host events and film productions, but not all can accommodate all activities. It's always best to contact the property owner and ask if the listing doesn't clarify it.

Things to Consider for Renting an Art Deco-style Venue in New York

New York City is home to the Empire State Building (formerly the tallest building worldwide). You'll also find the Rockefeller Center, the Chrysler Building, and the Tesla Radio Waves in the city. They all fall under the category of Art Deco architecture, and Giggster can help you rent similar structures for your production or event. It helps to know how you stand to benefit from booking a building with an Art Deco design in the city and how to handle different challenges.

Advantages

  • New York City has a culturally diverse population. Its distinct boroughs and neighborhoods, from Manhattan and Brooklyn to Central Park West, widen the search area for a Deco building.

  • New Yorkers will tell you that the city has the best food, and their sentiment is backed by at least 71 Michelin-starred restaurants around town. Thus, there are many catering options for your event or production.

  • The city has four seasons, making it easy to know when to schedule an outdoor event or photo shoot against the facade of a Deco building.

Disadvantages

  • Book a building or event space outside downtown Brooklyn or Manhattan. These areas have terrible traffic; Giggster offers equally conveniently located venues with all the required features.

  • Winter is the worst season to plan any function in the city because of the inches of snow and chilling winds that obstruct transportation.

  • Most tourist zones have "human congestion" and are also loud. Therefore, if you are considering a Deco building near popular spots, remember this.

Budgeting for an Art Deco-style Venue in New York

Giggster can help you book a Deco structure in Manhattan and other New York boroughs, or most other world cities, for as low as $17/hour. That allows you to stay on budget when planning your event or film shoot, and here are other suggestions on how to keep more money in the bank.

Rent a building with Deco features.

Many Deco-style residences in New York are less expensive. Estates are more accessible and reduce the chances of causing costly harm to the often sensitive historic Deco sites.

Use retro production techniques.

The Golden Age of Cinema used what is characterized as Deco motifs, including pronounced lines and color contrasts. It can help conjure the appearance on the screen without filming at an actual Deco location.

Book the venue in the off-season.

Most filming venues are reasonably priced when they are least in demand. Therefore, book the venue on a weekday instead of the weekend or in the winter instead of summer.
