Share This building is a rare architectural gem that is listed on the local Historic register. The building was designed by the famous architect Julia Morgan. In designing the building, Morgan integrated Chinese motifs with the framework of western architecture. It functioned as the YWCA for many years. Although the YWCA headquarters have since relocated, the building continues with its original function – to serve the community in San Francisco’s Chinatown, where it currently houses the Chinese Historical Society of America Museum.
The building consists of five galleries ranging in size, as well as hallways, a foyer, and two garden areas, a kitchen, elevators, and more. CHSA owns and operates its own parking lot as well.
