Please send an inquiry with a description of your project, not a booking request. Film and Video productions (as opposed to still photography) have an additional fee of +$150/hour (i.e. $290/hr (base) + $150/hr (film surcharge)) = $440/hr for film and video projects. This surcharge is due to the need for multiple scouts, heavier footprint, wear & tear, and EQ associated with these shoots. Additional costs: - 1x $300 Site Rep Fee - 1x $200 Cleaning Fee Finally, we require all bookings to put down a Security Deposit (5x hourly fee). This Security Deposit will be returned to your account within 5-7 business days assuming no damages occurred during your shoot. The hourly base rate increases as your head count increases. Please plug in your numbers to calculate your base rate in the Giggster widget. Someone from our team will be on site with you for the duration of the shoot to orient you in the space and also to verify head count and that all rules are followed. We have a 10 hour minimum, if you book for 6 hours you will be charged for 10 hours. If you book for 6 hours, you must still let us know if your schedule shifts. The safest way to plan to avoid overages like OT is to simply schedule yourself for the full 10 hours even if you do not anticipate needing the full amount of time. Large impact network/commercial filming will require a customized fee schedule. We do not accommodate discounts and cannot be flexible with minimum hours. You cannot book this location for a few hours. Get that retro, 70s and 80s look and feel without leaving the East Coast. Located in Flushing, Brooklyn, you'll forget that you're even in New York City for the day. Combined with the amount of natural light and the funky decor, this retro home will help you realize your creative vision for your project. The natural light, warm, and vibrant colors entering through the windows of this location perfectly balance each other out. We manage several locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn and have an extended amount of experience in production. When you book one of our spaces, you'll be connected to an on-site representative who will be with you throughout your production to orient you in the space and answer any questions. Please note, some rooms are upstairs. This is a great space for all crew sizes as the location is spacious and expansive. A certificate of insurance is required of all productions. Upon booking this location it's required to sign a Location Agreement. Absence of a signed Location Agreement can lead to the host canceling the booking. Heavy Equipment can’t be plugged into the Location’s power network. Crews should be aware that the Location runs on normal household power circulation and that they would need to arrange for an external power generator themselves may they have any Heavy Equipment in their EQ Package. The Location is not a professional ‘soundstage studio’.

About Queens

Queens is the largest of the five boroughs that make up New York City. It has a population of just over two million, and it is the most ethnically diverse urban area. It also has the second-largest economy of all five boroughs, with a range of jobs in various industries.

Queens holds sectors for film and tv production, health care, transportation, construction, and retail. The borough is also full of small businesses, with two-thirds of them only employing between one and four people. Two out of three of NYC’s major airports are located in Queens; LaGuardia and JFK International. Queens sits adjacent to Brooklyn, located in the western end of Long Island.

There are dozens of unique neighborhoods that make up Queens, and each one has its own culture and atmosphere. Many of New York’s most famous attractions are located in this borough, including Silvercup Studios, Aqueduct Racetrack, and Flushing Meadows Park.

Pros and Cons of Production Spaces in Queens

There are pros and cons to NYC, but Queens has its own good and bad sides to consider. Make sure you know what you are getting into before committing to a production space in Queens.

Advantages

  • Diversity
The entirety of New York City is known for diversity, but Queens is the most ethnically diverse of its five boroughs. This is reflected in the restaurants found in every neighborhood, with many of them offering a range of ethnic cuisines.

  • Affordability
New York is known for being expensive, but not every borough is the same. Queens is notorious for being the cheapest borough in the Big Apple, whether you’re looking to eat out, book a hotel room, or rent an apartment.

  • Easy to get around
When it comes to getting around, New York is one of the easiest cities to explore. You can take the public transportation network nearly anywhere in Queens, or other places in the city. New York is also walk-friendly, and many locals don’t even own a car.

Disadvantages

  • Commute times
It might be fairly easy to get around Queens, but it is known to have longer commute times than New York’s other boroughs. This is mainly due to the size of it, and it’s important to plan on spending extra time in traffic.

  • Brutal winters
The winter season in Queens can be brutal. Snowstorms are common, and the wind is bitterly cold. This can be especially difficult in a city where many people choose to get around on foot. If you’ll be in Queens during winter, it’s best to plan ahead for the cold weather.
