Rashad was amazing. Always got back to us to answer questions immediately. Acomidated last minute scout. Was our first day of shooting Indy film and bit chaotic re getting folks accustomed / designated to respective roles. As a result, signals got crossed and Garbage bags were left on set and Rashad cheerfully took care of it ,though he should NOT have had to do that. Great location, set was unlike anything on Giggster, parking was reserved for us overnight in front of the house, and there was plenty of street parking for free van, equipment truck ect. Quiet area. Can't recommend enough!!

About Queens

Queens is the largest of the five boroughs that make up New York City. It has a population of just over two million, and it is the most ethnically diverse urban area. It also has the second-largest economy of all five boroughs, with a range of jobs in various industries.

Queens holds sectors for film and tv production, health care, transportation, construction, and retail. The borough is also full of small businesses, with two-thirds of them only employing between one and four people. Two out of three of NYC’s major airports are located in Queens; LaGuardia and JFK International. Queens sits adjacent to Brooklyn, located in the western end of Long Island.

There are dozens of unique neighborhoods that make up Queens, and each one has its own culture and atmosphere. Many of New York’s most famous attractions are located in this borough, including Silvercup Studios, Aqueduct Racetrack, and Flushing Meadows Park.

Pros and Cons of Production Spaces in Queens

There are pros and cons to NYC, but Queens has its own good and bad sides to consider. Make sure you know what you are getting into before committing to a production space in Queens.

Advantages

  • Diversity
The entirety of New York City is known for diversity, but Queens is the most ethnically diverse of its five boroughs. This is reflected in the restaurants found in every neighborhood, with many of them offering a range of ethnic cuisines.

  • Affordability
New York is known for being expensive, but not every borough is the same. Queens is notorious for being the cheapest borough in the Big Apple, whether you’re looking to eat out, book a hotel room, or rent an apartment.

  • Easy to get around
When it comes to getting around, New York is one of the easiest cities to explore. You can take the public transportation network nearly anywhere in Queens, or other places in the city. New York is also walk-friendly, and many locals don’t even own a car.

Disadvantages

  • Commute times
It might be fairly easy to get around Queens, but it is known to have longer commute times than New York’s other boroughs. This is mainly due to the size of it, and it’s important to plan on spending extra time in traffic.

  • Brutal winters
The winter season in Queens can be brutal. Snowstorms are common, and the wind is bitterly cold. This can be especially difficult in a city where many people choose to get around on foot. If you’ll be in Queens during winter, it’s best to plan ahead for the cold weather.
