The space is fantastic and was perfect for the final segment of our corporate video shoot. We had a staff member with us the entire time who was super helpful in navigating everything from moving a bit of furniture, to using the TV and lighting. Very easy location to access and having the full space for our team was a bonus. Would definitely work with Jack and his team again!

Takashi and Mikiya were both very helpful. The space was great and I was able to comfortably fit around 15 people with decorations and lots of food. The bar area is also really cute. Wonderful experience overall! Very grateful that I was able to throw together a very last minute event here.

Hosted a musical revue here and the space was really lovely! Dennis' coworker who helped out with our event was really knowledgeable and helpful the whole night. They let us utilize the lighting and sound systems for a reasonable price as well. Great acoustics; guests complimented our finding of this little gem in downtown. Would recommend to anyone producing a small scale music-based event!

The space was exactly as advertised and I did not have any issues utilizing the space or equipment. There was some minor confusion at the end of the rental regarding a credit card of mine that was held for the duration of the shoot-changed staff at the desk did not immediately even know that they retained the card and did not believe they had it-but this was resolved fairly quickly.

Things to Consider for Your Outdoor Wedding in New York City

Thinking of celebrating this most special day in your life in NYC? Take a look at the pros and cons of the city before you book a venue!

Advantages

  • Given the sheer number of venues and event spaces available for rent in New York, we can guarantee that you'll find the perfect place to celebrate your wedding day.

  • New York has no lack of big landmarks like Times Square, Central Park, and the Empire State Building, which your out-of-town guests can visit in between the various wedding events and never get bored.

  • In addition to that, New York is a cultural melting pot. Whatever cuisine you want, you'll be able to hire vendors. Having a cultural wedding of some sort? Officiants won't be lacking.

Disadvantages

  • The thing with New York is that it's very urban, so you definitely won't be able to find vast, sprawling open spaces in the middle of the city.

  • There's always something or other going on in NYC, so you'd better book way in advance so all the best spaces don't get booked out.

  • If the event is outside the city proper, your guests will undoubtedly need private cars to get there. So you'd better take into account traffic and parking spaces.

Choosing the Right Type of Location for an Outdoor Wedding in New York City

If a large and traditional ceremony at St. Patrick's Cathedral isn't your thing, you certainly won't find it hard to book another wedding venue in New York. With 514 event spaces, Giggster has some of the best venues in the world to offer you.

Garden – Exchange Vows Under Trees. Celebrate with family and friends in a small, quaint garden and outdoor area in the heart of the city. Spots of greenery inside New York City aren't easy to come by, so why not take advantage of one when you do? The ideal spot for a micro wedding with a small number of guests—these venues should be snapped up quickly!

Estate – Sprawling Upstate Venues. If you really want a massive outdoor space for your wedding, head out of the city itself. A ranch in the Hudson River Valley or a breathtakingly beautiful French chateau would make your wedding day simply unforgettable. The venue is supposed to elevate an event, and that's exactly what these event spaces do.

Townhouse and Backyard – Intimate Ceremonies. The New York boroughs have many historic venues originally built sometime in the last couple of centuries, which have been renovated into the ideal spot for a quaint outdoor wedding in NYC. A quiet evening ceremony in the backyard, which continues into an informal reception and night of fun, might be exactly what the bride and groom desire.

Rooftop – Brilliant Skyline Views. New York, in general and Manhattan in particular, has some of the best rooftop wedding venues in the whole country. Hold the ceremony and enjoy a cocktail hour on a rooftop with pretty plant trellises and enchanting gazebos. Whimsical, airy decor will captivate the bridal couple and wedding guests alike.

Restaurant – Enjoy Outdoor Patios. If you get there early enough, you can book one of the beautiful restaurants with both indoor and outdoor seating. These kinds of venues feature floor-to-ceiling windows or outdoor patios so that you can get married and dine in the rare New York sunshine. A fine dining restaurant in Coney Island with an expansive patio will surely win hearts.

Planning Your Outdoor Wedding in New York City

If you don't want an event planner to present you with a neatly prepared wedding package, you can certainly plan the whole wedding yourself. But keep in mind, it does take some organization and being prepared.

Determine the Budget – Outdoor spaces don't automatically mean a budget wedding. Having a budget prepared ahead of time will give you a better idea of which areas you should be prioritizing and which you can wave away.

Select Venue – As we've already seen, there are enough and more captivating wedding venues in New York. All you have to do is weigh the pros and cons of your favorites and pick the one that best fits your vision.

Find Caterers – No New York City wedding is complete without some great food. Whether you have a culinary team prepare the bridal couple's favorites or you're hosting an exclusive reception at a restaurant, plan your menu ahead of time.

Choose Entertainment – A dance floor really is a must for a wedding reception. After all, there are so many traditional dances: between the bride and groom, and the father-daughter dance being just a few examples.

Set Up the Space – If you have a theme, color scheme, and favorite flowers in mind, communicate clearly with your decorators. Also inform them of your budget so they're not importing flowers from halfway across the world.

How to Save Money on an Outdoor Wedding in New York City

Obviously, you want your big day to be special, and if you want an outdoor wedding venue, you should go for it. But there's no need to opt for a fancy country club setting and formal seven-course meals.

Repurpose furniture and decor.

Rather than have different chairs or flowers for the ceremony and reception, you can always repurpose some of the furniture and decor elements. If you can get the chairs from the house or restaurant attached to the outdoor venue, you won't even have to spend on furniture rentals.

Use the photo shoot opportunities offered.

Panoramic views of hills and forests are exactly what you need for a pretty photo shoot without needing to rent out additional venues for that.

Ask guests to bring their own alcohol.

A wedding doesn't need to have an open bar. You can ask guests to bring the drink of their choice while you provide glasses, ice, and mixers.
