A beautiful space that is even better in person than it looks in photos. Tons of space for any use you might need, and a very spacious and well laid out interior that can also be used for production prep. The team that handles the rentals is also top notch, and exceptionally responsive and professional.

Find Memorial spaces in Los Angeles, CA

While Los Angeles is a city of scenic beaches and iconic buildings that make for Instagram-worthy photos, that's not all there is to the city. If you're looking to host a memorial service in Los Angeles, then the ideal venue will have natural light, serenity, and a sense of peacefulness. There are a lot more options than just your local funeral home.

We know that in the midst of your grief, trying to find a suitable location for the purpose of hosting a memorial is intimidating. But Giggster's variety of venues makes it so much easier for you. Opt for a community center or church where all friends and family of the departed person can gather to remember them together. On the other hand, a studio makes for a much more intimate and quiet location. You can easily set up the equipment for a presentation with a selection of important photos.

When there is so much to take care of, the memorial services shouldn't be an added stressor. With the help of Giggster, you can find the perfect venue that will both honor and bring back fond memories of a beloved friend or family member.

Los Angeles Memorial Spaces Curated by Giggster

Finding the perfect venue for a funeral service or memorial service is about deciding not just what mattered to the person who is gone but also what matters to those they have left behind. You might be honoring Jewish tradition, Christian rituals, or a completely secular upbringing in your selection of property.

  • Did your loved one have a particular love for the outdoors? Host their memorial in a vast desert land space with a spectacular view of the mountains in homage.

  • A location like a rustic diner or a modern cafe might not be the most conventional of spaces but renting out the entire property can give you the space necessary for the service.

  • Explore event spaces within the Wilshire Center or a local community center where all the friends and family can gather in a large space at the same time.

  • Memorial services are celebrations of the life lived. As such, a beautiful and elegant garden overlooking the sea makes for just the spot for such a ceremony.

Things to Consider for Your Memorial Spaces in Los Angeles

We understand that you're planning a memorial service in Los Angeles and all the options that are available might be a relief. But the city itself has its own pros and cons.

Advantages

  • The California weather is a big pro so if you're planning a meaningful ceremony outdoors, this is the best place for it.

  • The diverse and eclectic population of Los Angeles guarantees that you'll be able to find people to help you out with all kinds of cultural traditions.

  • A memorial service doesn't necessarily need to be planned in a hurry so you can take your time and find the best venues and caterers in the city.

Disadvantages

  • Traffic is a huge issue in Los Angeles and trying to find parking spaces in the city is a nightmare.

  • The best venues get booked out quickly and are impossible to find at short notice. So you'll have to plan months in advance which isn't always possible in such cases.

  • LA is far from the most affordable city and having lots of people flying in from elsewhere can become an expensive and inconvenient proposition.

Choosing the Right Type of Location for a Memorial Space in Los Angeles

When planning memorial services, choosing a location is of utmost importance. Sometimes it's just a place that was dear to the person you have lost but often it's a matter of convenience and finding a spot that they would have liked. With Giggster's 5950 venues, that's no problem!

Garden – A Serene Memorial Service. Whether you're searching for one of the magnificent LA estates and gardens that look upon the Getty Center or a small courtyard garden with tropical plants at a Spanish retreat, the calm and peaceful atmosphere of a garden is well-suited to this kind of ceremony.

Church – For Cultural Traditions. While many people settle for funeral home chapels for the memorial service, you really don't need to. Los Angeles has no lack of vintage churches, Gothic or Spanish style, some with an attached second floor to fit a larger community. For the more traditional-minded, this is a classic memorial venue.

Restaurant – In-house Services. On the other hand, for less traditional families, a restaurant is the ideal spot for smaller gatherings. Just book out the entire space and you can be guaranteed enough privacy to remember and honor your loved one in peace. If they were in love with a particular cuisine or locale, what's better than to pay homage to that?

Studio/Loft – Versatile Spaces. The thing about studios and lofts is how extremely versatile they are. The perfect venue for practically any kind of small and intimate event, you can host a close gathering here and have room left over to lay out food. Suppose you want to put together a presentation in memory of the person, then a studio will have the equipment to do just that!

Community Center – Gathering Spaces for Large Groups. A community center in the neighborhood might not be the most personalized or beautiful of event spaces but it's certainly convenient. If you've already had a funeral service beforehand and want a memorial later with the whole family, then this is a good option.

How to Plan a Memorial in Los Angeles

A memorial serves to remember the loved one who is gone and to honor their life if not their death. It's for the living much more than for the dead. Grief can make it difficult to concentrate on the memorial and other services so here are a few things to keep in mind.

Fix on Venue and Date Unlike a funeral service, there's no time limit on a memorial. It's meant to be a celebration of life for your loved one, not just a burial or cremation. So you can wait for a time that's convenient for everybody and preferably choose a venue that the departed person would have loved.

Decide on the Service You not only need a person to lead the service, which can be a religious leader or even just a close friend, but also the other details. From the music to the readings and eulogies, a traditional service has several requirements. A printed program always helps attendees.

Select Music and Readings This is the way that you can make the service personalized. Trying to choose favorite songs, having people speak about their favorite memories, reading from religious texts or even favorite books, and perhaps putting together a slideshow of photographs helps you feel closer to your loved one.

Organize a Reception Closing with a reception after the service is not only traditional, but it's also a good opportunity for everyone to speak in a less formal setting. It can be as simple as serving coffee and cake or you can consider catering the whole event.

Saving Money on a Memorial in Los Angeles

Concentrating on the details and nitty-gritties of a memorial service isn't easy. After all, you're mourning for a person you loved dearly and that's perfectly understandable. But being careless about your spending and blowing off your entire bank balance on it doesn't help!

What is your budget?

All celebrations, even if what you're celebrating is a bittersweet memorial—there's a budget you'll have to start out with! Once you've got a budget in place, it's much more likely that things will just fall into place from there.

Being flexible with dates is a plus.

Memorial services have a definite advantage. They don't need to take place immediately. Not only do you get time to plan it out, you're also in a position to be flexible! You'll be much better off planning for a weekday than a weekday.

Can you DIY some things?

Certain things are a necessary part of memorials but most families are happy to help out! You can delegate work and let someone create the programs while someone else bakes a cake. If you need a projector for the photos, a youngster will willingly help set it up.
