Youth from the juvenile justice system, foster care, and other situations of abuse or neglect find jobs, training, mentorships, and a caring community at the cafe. These incredible young people learn and run every aspect of the restaurant, from the servers to the chefs. Every dollar you spend at the cafe goes directly back to our programs, empowering youth.
The cafe is a 1920s style jazz-themed supper club, based in San Francisco’s Bayview/Hunter’s Point neighborhood, run by youth coming out of the system of incarceration and/or foster care. The restaurant, founded by former corrections officer (and a CNN Hero of the Year) Teresa Goines, provides ground-up training in the hospitality world to eligible youth 16-22, in addition to mentorship and invaluable life skills. Every element of our restaurant - from bussing and dishwashing to cooking and serving - is run by our youth, making a meal at the cafe one of the most unique dining experiences you could have.
