The Palace of Fine Arts - 120,000 sq. ft
San Francisco, CA
Originally built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, the Palace of Fine Arts features a Greco-Roman style Rotunda and Colonnades. These recognizable features make this landmark a truly emblematic piece of San Francisco history. The Palace is located near a large lagoon and is the former home of the Exploratorium and the current home of the Palace Theater and the Venue at the Palace of Fine Arts. In addition, the Palace is located in, perhaps, what is the most iconic area of San Francisco, right near Crissy Field and the Golden Gate Bridge. In 1915, the Presidio’s Bayfront, and what is currently known as the Marina District served as the location of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The Palace of Fine Arts was constructed as one of the many exposition halls used to showcase new technology and innovations. During the 1915 Exposition, San Francisco welcomed over 18 Million guests from all around the world. The exposition lasted from February to December and covered 600 acres of land. This World’s Fair was a grand celebration. What was being celebrated? The completion of the Panama Canal. It was also a celebration of San Francisco, and the city’s ability to overcome hardship. Nine years earlier, the city endured the 1906 earthquake; a 7.9 magnitude quake that shook California along the San Andreas Fault. By hosting this event, the San Francisco community was able to come together and build (or rebuild) buildings all around the city so that they could be used during the World’s Fair. This is how the Palace, and much of the Marina District, came to be. With hard work and determination, San Francisco proved itself to be the resilient and motivated city you see today. The Palace of Fine Arts serves as a reminder of the challenges that the city had to overcome, and the triumph the community felt when those challenges were conquered. Over 100 years old, car parts were assembled in our studio. The building's owner was a well known SF photographer and philanthropist who knew the value of providing an affordable, creative space for artists to work and thrive. His passion to protect this building and each space inside has always been an inspiration to us to do the same within the artist community in San Francisco. - ABOUT THE SPACE - Hundreds of well known artists have used our space to bring their creative visions to life. We have a beautiful, 17 foot white brick wall that even has a small crack from the 1989 earthquake. We resurfaced the original floors when we acquired this space and added the artist loft and gear storage area. Approx. 500sq. ft. of private shooting space fit for any type of production. Please feel free to ask us any questions about the space. - ABOUT THE ARTISTS - We are three professional photographers, creative directors and producers who have been using this incredible space to shoot commercial and personal photographic work going into our 3rd year. We have produced photography out of this space for hundreds of brands and clients including some of the most well known editorial magazines in The Bay Area. We are open to your ideas and hope our space can provide you with budgetary flexibility and creative freedom to do your best work! - SERVICES AL A CARTE - If you have questions about production crews or need help sourcing additional help from professional creatives/artists, please let us know. Homage, a unique financial district lunch destination, provides food reflecting and honoring local farms in the Bay Area. The large open-air space creates a welcoming atmosphere for morning coffee or a meeting place to conduct business matters. At night, the room can be converted into an intimate setting for after-work libations and multiple plates from the kitchen. Weekly, our team travels to the farmers market, gathering what we decide is in perfect ripeness and prepare an ever-changing, concise menu. Our focus is on simplicity, freshness and technique. We expedite the demanding pace of a financial district lunch service by streamlining our menu. Simple, well-executed salads, an option of soup, fresh pasta and daily roasts are prepared that morning. Loaves of bread using freshly house-milled grain, are baked alongside the rotating, seasonal menu.
