5 stars, and some key things to understand when shooting here. Like most homes for productions, neighbors and general neighborhood rules can be equally important to the location's house rules. What I really liked about collaborating with Brian at his home is he is above board with everything. His neighbors know what he's doing and he helps explain all the little quirks that it takes to keep them happy. This is essential in having a production with no disruptions. These people have to deal with numerous shoots weekly, so for the sake of your production, include Brian's instructions on your call sheet! As for the location itself, can you get a better deal? Such a fantastic mid-century home that has been kept in great condition is rare- especially at this price point. Brian was kind enough to stick around each day which was helpful. He was also very polite if one of our crew members was breaking a house rule, and didn't get upset. For example, if someone forgot to take their shoes off inside, or parked in the wrong area. While he stayed out of our way and was very open to our requests, I will say one thing... feed the man! Add another head to your catering order. It's the polite thing to do, really for any home owner when you're in their personal space.

Pros and Cons of Bar and Bat Mitzvahs in San Francisco

Have you decided on the exact San Francisco bar and bat mitzvah? Remember to consider the pros and cons as you plan.

Advantages

  • Food and entertainment opportunities
San Francisco is known for its wide range of food offerings and entertainment opportunities. There is always something to do in San Francisco, and even the most discernible palate will find only the best of cuisine choices in the City by the Bay. This means a terrific choice of catering companies for the event.

  • Public transportation is efficient
Some larger cities provide public transportation, but it is often lacking. However, in San Francisco, the public transportation is plentiful, and it is reliable as well as efficient. You can choose from Muni or BART, or you may want to take a ride on a vintage street/cable car trolley.

  • The weather
The weather in San Francisco could be considered a “pro” or a “con,” depending upon your location and the time of day. Residents of the area say that you can travel from one neighborhood to another and feel the temperature rise or fall by about ten degrees. However, overall, the weather in San Francisco is mild rather than blazing hot and rarely chilly.

Disadvantages

  • Traffic
A private car service or public transportation is recommended for traveling around San Francisco. The traffic is almost always congested; it is difficult to get around, especially for visitors. San Francisco has an INRIX Global Scorecard rating as the fifth-worst traffic congestion in the world (it ranks third in the US).

  • Can be pricey
Whether one lives here or is simply visiting, prepare to spend more on food, entertainment, and transportation. Eating and going out are more expensive here than in comparable cities. The overall cost of living in San Francisco is simply high, and even visitors will feel the pinch. Have a budget for the bar and bat mitzvah and stick to it.

  • Earthquakes
While an earthquake is unlikely to occur when one is visiting, San Francisco has been home to several devastating earthquakes. There is always the small possibility of an earthquake taking place there; however, most of them are relatively small and largely not destructive.
