I would absolutely return to this location in a heart-beat if another shoot arose in the Philadelphia area. Joe and the team at Billy Penn was fantastic and more accommodating than many other locations I've used. They were very communicative, helpful, and responsive to any and all requests and needs we had on-hand, and went out of their way to make the experience as pleasant and positive as possible. Moreover, the location itself was clean, gorgeous, provided all power, internet, AC/Heat, and privacy we needed, and is within close distance to a handful of restaurants and stores for food and supply runs. There was an onsite cafe, which was fantastic for quick coffee runs, and onsite community of businesses in the building that came in handy when we were missing a few pieces of equipment for our shoot (one of the businesses was a video rental house). Would absolutely recommend using this location, and look forward to using the location again for future shoots in the Philadelphia area.

Meetup Space Options in Philadelphia

Philadelphia is the city of brotherly love and what better way to share that love than with a meetup. Finding a meetup space in Philadelphia is about more than just a location though, there’s lots of thought and planning that goes into it.

  • Venue
Your meetup space certainly doesn’t need to be hard to get to. When picking a Philadelphia meetup space for everyone to gather, the most important thing is that everyone can reach it and it’s easy to actually meet up. Check around for transit locations, parking, and make sure that the space is friendly to everyone, even those with disabilities.

  • Catering
If you think your meetup will be a large gathering, then the Philadelphia meetup space you select needs to be able to accommodate everyone comfortably. Planning to eat onsite since the venue is perfect? There are plenty of catering companies with the perfect credentials ready to supply you with tasty food and awesome service.

  • Technical Equipment
People have meetups for a lot of reasons. Sometimes they are purely social, other times they are for a specific purpose such as dating, sharing a passion with other people, such as art or photography or even business or political ideas. That being said, you’ll want the sound, lights audio to be spot on for the perfect ambiance and atmosphere. Choose a company that will take care of these details so you can think about other aspects of the gathering.

Pros and Cons of Meetup Spaces in Philadelphia

Philadelphia is certainly a great place to meet people. With plenty of history and culture, plus lots to do, it’s a great place to hold a meetup for whatever your tastes are. As with every city though, there are downsides as well.

  • Plenty of outdoor activity
If you want to be active during or after your meetup, then Philadelphia is the place. There’s lots of greenery and outdoor activities for people to do in the city.

  • Decent cost of living
Compared to other major cities, Philly has a lower average cost of living. This can make renting your Philadelphia meetup space and going to do activities much cheaper.

  • Tons of opportunity
If you’re looking to settle there and look for job opportunities then you’re in the right place. There’s a great deal of industry and places to find employment in various fields.

  • Rich history
We’re talking about one of the oldest cities in the country, if you’re looking to explore and learn something, then Philadelphia has loads of that. Perfect for a meetup of history buffs.

  • Good public transit
It never hurts to be able to get around well in a city like Philadelphia. Whether you’re going to and from your meetup space to elsewhere, or just touring the town, the public transit system is quite useful.

  • No affordable housing
While the cost of living is good in Philly, you won’t find a lot of affordable places to live. This can make staying there indefinitely a difficult thing, no matter how many friends you meet.

  • Driving is difficult
While there might be good public transit, drivers will find it difficult to get anywhere at all. It’s best to find alternate means of transportation in Philadelphia.

  • Jobs are specialized
There’s plenty of work and opportunity in Philly, but certain fields take up the majority of the workforce. This can make it difficult to make a living if you aren’t connected to the right people. This is why meetups are so beneficial.

  • Congestion is a problem
The city can be overpopulated, particularly during the warmer months when more people are traveling. While this is great for meeting new people, it can be a detriment to trying to get any peace and quiet.

  • Harsh winters
If you’re not a fan of heavy snow, then Philadelphia may not be the place for you. The winters can go from mild to harsh in a heartbeat, making even the best-laid plans go awry.
