This space was easy to access. Plenty of street parking nearby with off loading zones available across the street. The natural lighting, downtown view, and windows worked perfectly for the vision of the photo shoot.

Production Space Options in Austin

Starting from zero can be a bit daunting, particularly when it comes to production spaces. There are a few things you will need that might sound obvious, but maybe not so much for others. Here are a few options for production spaces in Austin.

  • Cameras
Make sure to get a good camera. This might be the number one thing to consider when it comes to production quality. If you start with a good camera, you will have a much easier time getting the quality to the level you want it. Depending on the type of project you are working on, any variety of cameras could do the trick, it is all about picking the one that is best for your needs.

  • External Mics
While most cameras have a built-in microphone that will capture all the audio you need, the quality might not be top-tier. Consider purchasing an external microphone so you can better capture exactly what audio you wish to capture. The quality is normally higher and you can adjust the levels as well.

  • Lighting
Bad lighting is distracting. Good lighting is key. You want the lighting in your video to be intentional. This is done by adjusting shadows, foreground, and background lighting using different types of lights, the angle of the natural lighting, and reflectors.

  • Video Editing Software
Once you capture all of the raw footage, it is time to bring it to the computer and begin adjustments with your video editing software. This is the best way to crisp up images, alter scenes, and add any special effects the project might need.

Production Space Companies in Austin

When setting up your production space in Austin, there are likely going to be some things you need. You may find that you need some office supplies, lighting, or gear or you could need some beverages, food, and entertainment. Luckily, there are plenty of Austin companies that can help.

  • Staples
When it comes to office supplies including laptops and desks, check out this favored supplier. From pencils and pens to computers and laptops, Staples is one of the most popular office suppliers in the world. They even have options for production editing software.

Pros and Cons of Production Spaces in Austin

Choosing a production space in Austin could be a great idea for some and not such a great idea for others. Like any city, it has its pros and cons. Here are a few for you to consider so you can make an educated decision about your project.

Advantages

  • Making friends is easy
There are so many people in Austin, and the culture is so friendly, you will be surrounded by good and talented folks that could help you with your project.

  • Lots of outdoor fun
Getting outside and enjoying the natural wonders of Austin is a great way to give your mind a break so you can come back to your project rejuvenated. Plus, a bit of outdoor time will be welcoming after working behind a computer for so long.

  • Incredible food in Austin
It is hard to work well on an empty stomach. Luckily, Austin has tons of great food choices to keep your belly full and your taste buds jumping for joy. Enjoy just about any type of food you could think of, but definitely make it a point to try their barbecue.

Disadvantages

  • Summer is hot
Yes, Austin is hot during the summer. And it can even be a bit warm in the spring and fall too. Prepare for the heat and try to have your production indoors during the warmer months.

  • Bad traffic
The public transportation in this city is awful, therefore everyone owns a car. And with a population of just under one million, that is a whole lot of traffic come rush hour time. Consider this when scheduling your transportation to and from work.

  • Must own a car
Since public transport is both unreliable and nearly non-existent, living in Austin without a car is basically impossible. If you do not already own one, it might be time to consider buying one if you are to have a production space in Austin.
