The home was exactly as pictured. The hosts were wonderful. They helped us find a nearby parking lot for our crew. And Conrad was such a great studio teacher that our young actor asked if he could be his teacher everyday.

The home is stunning - truly one of a kind. It fit our shoot's needs perfectly! Tessa, the host, is kind and helpful. From the initial scout, to the final walkthrough once we'd wrapped, she made the experience an excellent one. The house is even more beautiful in person!

The house is lovely! A bit of a drive and definitely account for traffic. It is not a studio house, there is definite signs of people living there. But the host is lovely and very helpful

This place is special - and Karen is awesome! We've shot here twice, and both times we felt welcome to run around her space - and shoot what we needed to shoot to get the shots we needed!

Cindy was a really gracious host. The home is beautiful, the views are spectacular and it was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had as a producer in 30 years. Highly recommend this property. The parking is the only issue due to 5he narrow streets, but it wasn't a really big issue if you plan for it.

This home is absolutely fabulous! Cindy was truly great to work with and the house is gorgeous and spotless. We hosted a small team meeting there, and everything was perfect for a little time out of the office.

About Wilderness Locations

Wilderness locations can be some of the most unique and breathtaking places to host an event. Whether a wedding, a corporate retreat, or a large gathering such as a music festival, these locations can provide a space unlike any other.

Wilderness locations generally offer several key characteristics that make them ideal for hosting events. Firstly, they often have an immense natural beauty that cannot be replicated in an urban setting. This can range from breathtaking mountain views and crystal-clear lakes to lush green forests or expansive deserts. Secondly, they are completely secluded from any modern distractions and urban noise pollution, allowing guests to reconnect with nature and take in the sights and sounds of the surrounding area without interruption. Finally, they offer the perfect venue for an immersive experience where guests can disconnect from their daily lives and connect surrounded by nature.

These locations also provide ample opportunities for activities before or after an event, such as camping trips or hikes. These activities are perfect for team-building exercises or simply taking in the beauty of the wilderness together. Overall, wilderness locations are some of the best places to host events due to their immense natural beauty, seclusion from distractions, and ample opportunities for outdoor activities.

The Best Events for Wilderness Locations

  • Weddings
A wedding in a wilderness location venue will be unique for both the bride and groom and their guests. The ceremony could take place near the shore of a lake or under the gorgeous canopy of tall trees. There are many activities that couples could incorporate into their special day, such as kayaking, horseback riding, or even a small scavenger hunt. For entertainment during cocktail hour or dinner, live music could be provided by local bands or small orchestras to give the occasion a unique feel.
  • Corporate Retreats
Corporate retreats hosted in a wilderness venue can help unite employees in an environment far removed from everyday office life. Activities suitable for this event include team-building exercises like zip-lining and white-water rafting, encouraging teamwork and strengthening corporate bonds between colleagues. For more relaxed moments, there could be organized nature walks with stops for bird watching or stargazing at night under clear skies filled with stars.
  • Theme Nights
Theme nights held at a wilderness location venue offer guests something exceptional to enjoy outside city walls. These events could be held on specific days of the week featuring different themes every night, such as music, art and culture, games, etc. Guests can expect exciting activities such as boat races on the lake, archery competitions, campfires with s’mores, karaoke songs around bonfires, and much more. Fun props like LED light sticks or glow paints can also add color to any theme night, giving it that extra oomph.
  • Yoga Retreat
A yoga retreat is a great way to use the serene atmosphere of a wilderness location venue. Guests can enjoy outdoor sessions of varied types of yoga classes such as Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, or Kundalini Yoga. They can also participate in guided meditation and mindfulness practices while immersing themselves in the surrounding beauty. There could even be an opportunity to connect with the local wildlife during nature walks.

What to Look for in Wilderness Locations

  • Proximity
How close or far away is the venue from the event participants? Consider how easily accessible it is and how long it will take them to get there. Ensure the location accommodates however many people attend and that there is enough space for activities or other event elements.
  • Weather
The weather in a particular region can significantly affect the outcome of an event. Check the season during your event and ensure that temperature fluctuations, rain, wind, etc., won’t hinder any planned activities. You should consider potential hazards such as extreme heat, cold, and storms.
  • Infrastructure
Ensure sufficient infrastructure facilities at the venue for hosting guests comfortably. Look out for restrooms, running water supply, and electricity. Consider also if there are any accommodation facilities nearby for those who need to stay overnight at the location.
  • Landscape and Safety
The landscape of the wilderness location should be inspected for any potential dangers, such as dangerous cliffs, rocks, and other obstacles. Ensure sufficient security personnel are on-site in case of any unforeseen circumstances.

How to Make Wilderness Events Better

  • Educate Participants: Before the event, host a workshop or webinar to educate participants on how to act in the wilderness. Explain the importance of respecting wildlife and plants and the safety precautions that must be taken in this environment.

  • Choose an Experienced Provider: When selecting a provider for the event, look for one with experience hosting activities in wilderness locations. Ensure they have the knowledge and practice around trail etiquette, Leave No Trace principles, and other general guidelines while operating in these areas.

  • Utilize Reusable Supplies: Use reusable supplies to reduce waste and promote sustainability. This could include getting durable containers for food and drinks or using reusable plates instead of plastic ones.

  • Monitor Local Conditions: Before proceeding with the event, check local conditions such as weather forecasts and trail closures. Determine if any precautionary steps need to be taken or if special considerations must be made due to potential hazards.

  • Safety Comes First: Ensure all necessary safety measures are taken during the activity. Have extra first aid kits available in an emergency, provide protective gear where appropriate (e.g., helmets), and ensure everyone knows their roles before participating in any activities.
