This was by far the best venue EVER!! Carol was absolutely amazing, I wouldn’t recommend anyone else! The owner has done such a great job revamping the space, yet keeping all of the unique charm. Will 110% be booking this location again for other life milestones!

We were the first people to book John's space on Giggster and I am sure that we won't be the last. John's place is stunning and John himself is super kind and accommodating. We had a great time and the interview looked amazing. Don't hesitate to book here!

Fantastic host and gorgeous space! Ample parking and proactive host. Would definitely recommend for other productions. If recording sound (especially dialogue) is important for your production, I would recommend getting as much clarity on scheduled contractors (gardeners, pool, etc.) as possible.

About Attic spaces

Attics are ideal event or photoshoot locations, due to their unique charm and character. Typically featuring rustic or vintage decor, attics offer a sense of warmth that guests can appreciate. Typically located on the top floor of a home, the sloped ceilings and exposed beams create an inviting atmosphere for any function.

Attics provide an eclectic atmosphere, as the space is typically filled with antiques, vintage furniture, and other unique decorations that enhance any event. Small touches such as dainty chandeliers, cozy couches, and armchairs upholstered with vintage fabrics, antique mirrors, rugs draped over hardwood floors, or even large bookshelves filled with vintage novels give the space an extra layer of character.

The high ceilings found in attics also make them ideal spaces for hosting large groups of people, allowing plenty of breathing room between guests. Additionally, most attics also feature skylights or floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in plenty of natural light and provide a stunning view.

The Best Events for Attic spaces

  • Private Party
Attic spaces are perfect for private parties, offering a unique and cozy atmosphere. Guests can enjoy socializing against the backdrop of a rustic aesthetic of exposed beams and vintage furniture, or take advantage of the tall ceilings to play rambunctious childhood games such as hide-and-seek or tag. For more refined gatherings, attics also provide ideal settings for cocktail receptions or dinner parties with elegant lighting and decorations.
  • Photoshoot
Attics have their own distinctive charm that makes them excellent locations for photoshoots or art installations. They usually contain interesting decor elements such as exposed beams or rustic furniture that could make great props to complete any artistic vision you may have in mind! With some simple lighting adjustments, photographers are able to capture stunning images using natural light streaming through windows or small skylights tucked away in these kinds of spaces.
  • Yoga Retreat
An attic is a great place to host a yoga retreat because of its calm atmosphere and natural lighting. It is large enough to accommodate multiple guests without feeling overcrowded while still providing some privacy due to its distinct layout. Guests can practice yoga in this peaceful environment while taking in beautiful architectural elements such as sloped ceilings and skylights.
  • Art Exhibition
Attic spaces make great venues for art exhibitions because they provide plenty of space for displaying work while also allowing viewers to move around freely between works. Artists may choose to display their artwork on walls or even on tables set up throughout the space so that viewers can observe from every angle. Moreover, thanks to its unique character and interesting features, an attic is very likely to attract attention from curious visitors who want to explore something new in an unfamiliar environment!

What to Look for in Attic Spaces

  • Accessibility
Attics can pose accessibility issues, depending on the occasion at hand. Therefore, it is important to consider the space’s entrances and exits, and if any of these need to be modified or adjusted to accommodate attendees easily. Also, assess the height and width of staircases leading up, as these can sometimes be very narrow or cramped and not suitable for large groups.
  • Structural Integrity
As attics are typically older spaces, it is necessary to inspect the area carefully for signs of deterioration before booking your event. Look out for things like cracks in walls and ceilings, water damage, weak floorboards, evidence of pests, and any other issues that could interfere with safety during the event.
  • Ambiance
Take into account the overall atmosphere when choosing an attic space. Consider whether natural light is available, as this can dramatically improve the ambiance in darker areas like attics (although it goes without saying that ambient lighting will still need to be sourced). Furthermore, assess what type of decoration will fit best with the existing aesthetic, given that some attics have a more vintage feel that would require different décor than a modern-style attic might.
  • Practicality
Finally, make note of practical considerations when using attic space for your events, such as size limitations due to slanted roofs, lack of electrical outlets or sockets (if they are needed), difficulties with heat regulation during summer months, etc. It is also beneficial to consider what type of activities will work best within such a restricted environment, too many people or too much noise may cause problems in some cases!

How to Make Attic Events Better

  • Use the Space Optimally
Take full advantage of the attic’s space by ensuring that all furniture is arranged in a way that allows maximum comfort and usability. Ensure there is enough seating and room to move around, as well as tables and chairs if necessary.

  • Incorporate Unique Lighting
A poorly lit attic can put a damper on any event. To make sure your guests get the most out of their experience take advantage of the natural light from windows in addition to other lighting options available such as twinkling fairy lights or string lanterns hung from a slanted ceiling creating a magical vibe while adding visibility to the venue. Avoid using bright overhead lighting as it can be too harsh in an attic space making it uncomfortable for guests.
  • Embrace Serenity With Soft Music
Playing relaxing background music provides extra comfort for guests as they mingle during your event while also filling awkward silences that may arise between conversations giving them something “else” to focus on rather than only their conversation partners.

  • Keep it Cool
Temperature control can be tricky in attics due to limited insulation and ventilation systems. Use air conditioning units or fans to ensure that the temperature remains comfortable during warmer weather events and provide plenty of blankets or extra clothing options for cooler temperatures during winter months.

  • Be Mindful of Noise Levels
Attics tend to amplify noise due to their enclosed nature, so it’s important to keep sound levels at a respectful level during your event. Make sure all music players are set at a reasonable volume and consider using soundproofing material in order to absorb excessive noise from conversations or other activities taking place during your gathering.
