About the Bronx
The Bronx is one of the five boroughs that comprise New York City and is the only one that is found entirely on the mainland. At a total land space of 42 square miles, The Bronx is the 9th most populous region in the United States. Its population includes almost 1.5 million people representing countries from all over the world.
Running through the middle of the Bronx is the Bronx River. This beautiful waterway divides the city into two sections: the hilly west and the flat east. One street marks the separation between these two regions: Jerome Avenue.

Pros and Cons of Production Spaces in the Bronx
With its reasonable cost of living and close proximity to NYC, it’s not hard to see why people find the Bronx hard to resist. Still, the Bronx is one borough that has its advantages and disadvantages that should be considered before booking a production space here.
Advantages
- Lots of parking
The Bronx offers ample places for parking with most spaces available free of charge.
- Inexpensive public transit
The Bronx MTA subway and bus system is inexpensive and efficient, allowing for an easy, if sometimes lengthy, commute to Manhattan for work or for play.
- Lots of beautiful outdoors spaces
For those who thrive when in the great outdoors, the Bronx is one borough that will not disappoint. There are many recreational areas, gardens, and natural spaces here that are the ideal place to spend a day hiking, biking, or simply people-watching.
Disadvantages
- Long commutes
The trip from the Bronx to Manhattan can be a lengthy one, measuring from 30 to 60 minutes in each direction. This can be undesirable for those who must travel this distance to work each day.
- Rugged landscape
The Bronx’s landscape has been ravaged by its years as a high crime zone. At present, it is still under development to restore it to its former glory.
- Poor air quality
There is a lot of construction currently taking place in the Bronx. In addition to this, many of the homes are located near heavily congested highways. This means that the air quality in this borough can be poor.
Famous Locations in the Bronx
- Pelham Bay Park
The biggest park found in NYC, Pelham Bay Park is actually three times larger than the Big Apple’s most famous recreational space: Central Park. Found on this public space’s 2772 acres of property are such beautiful natural elements as oak forests, marches, and coastline. To the east, Pelham Bay Park houses the borough’s only public seaside attraction: Orchard Beach.
- Orchard Beach
At 115 acres in total land space, Orchard Beach is the only public seaside haven in the borough. Often referred to as the Riviera of New York, this beautiful beach provides incredible views of the Long Island Sound and City Island.
- City Island
City Island is only 1.5 miles in total landmass and is easily accessed from the Bronx by a bridge found within Pelham Bay Park. The island was once exclusively used for shipbuilding enterprises and is now a charming retreat complete with antique shops, art galleries, quaint Victorian homes, and a laidback way of living that invites relaxation.
