A little confusing to locate but great space. I was worried that the natural light wouldn't come through since it had just finished raining but it was somehow perfect. A lot of trinkets! Great for creative product shots. I'm definitely going to book again.

Nick and his team were really nice and helpful! Good communication leading up to event. Space was nice, perfect size for a Pop Up. Be clear on whether you need furnishing within the space and truck loading/unloading access. Building management not very cooperative, so sort details out beforehand.

This space feel so much bigger than 500 square feet! We loved this studio for our pop up event. The location was very easy to locate with ample parking available through out the day. The building is a real hidden gem. Our host Courtney was so professional and kind, and was very accommodating with my requests. The space itself is a great blank slate that comes primed with lots of character. Highly recommend!

This location far exceeded my expectation, the rooms were clean, cozy, and comfortable for my guest, The furnishings were of good quality and complemented the overall decor of each room. I like the fact that we were just a short walk or drive from all the major shopping areas. The host Lawrence was easy to reach and quick in answering all my questions before, during & after the bookings. Will book this location again without hesitation. Thanks, Lawrence for the refreshments served, and your great hospitality during our stay.

Pros and Cons of Pop-Up Shops in New York

While there are many options for setting up pop-up shops in New York, let's see if the city itself is a good fit.

Advantages

  • The sheer number, range, and types of venues in New York are a huge plus. You're sure to find a suitable place.

  • It's always easy to find vendors in New York to help you set up the booths, lighting, food, and any decorations.

  • One of the most populous cities in the world and a shopping haven, the large crowds make for excellent potential customers.

Disadvantages

  • Several months of bad weather, including humid summers and frigid winters. If you want an outdoor pop-up, you can only set it up during limited seasons.

  • New Yorkers are notoriously blunt and busy and may not stop even for an interesting pop-up.

  • Popular venues fill up quickly so plan ahead if you want to get the best spots.

The Best Type of Venue for Your Pop-Up in New York

Pop-up shops are useful and necessary for a variety of reasons, from marketing purposes to experimenting with new products. Thus, given your goal and the kind of product you're selling, you can choose from among Giggster's 335 venues.

Loft/Studio – Versatile Spaces. From photography studios in Brooklyn to a trendy office space in Manhattan, these are some of the best locations in the world for a pop-up. You can set it up just to your liking. A themed setting like a beach theme for sundresses or French accents for pastries will draw the eyes of customers.

Restaurant or Cafe – High Foot Traffic. On the other hand, setting up a small pop-up space in the corner of a restaurant or cafe guarantees customers already. Negotiate with the restaurant owners about how long you want your pop-up to remain and make sure that you're not directly competing with the restaurant's business.

Mansion or House – Market in Style. Create a stylish pop-up event in a landscaped chateau or a sunny brownstone with a private backyard. These kinds of events are often catered towards launching and marketing new products among a select audience and will be accordingly more upscale.

Retail Store – Unique Pop-Up Location. Rent a location like a record store or a massive indoor plant shop and set up a pop-up shop selling food or handmade jewelry to attract customers to the store. You have to consider the kind of footfall and the sort of customers the place gets

Warehouse – For Festive Events. If you're looking to host an event in the lead-up to the holiday season and set up a number of pop-up spaces in New York City, then a large, high-ceilinged warehouse may be just the place for you! Plenty of windows and warm wooden floors add to the cozy holiday atmosphere and there is enough space to house multiple booths.

Planning Your Pop-Up in New York

A pop-up shop is a good way of getting new customers, but it takes time and effort to organize. Let's look at how to go about setting one up!

Decide on Your Goals You've got to decide why exactly you're setting up a pop-up store in the first place. Is it because you're testing a new product? Trying to get new customers? Do you have a specific target audience in mind or do you just want to attract a large crowd? Your goals will dictate all other arrangements, going forward!

Select a Theme Everyone loves a theme. Whether you're promoting high fashion or selling ice cream, a theme won't fail you. A French chateau-style house and excellent bakery products would go well with a line of fashionable loungewear.

Pick a Venue Once you've decided on your goals and budget, you can then go ahead and pick the venue, whether that's a venue that will attract high foot traffic, like a restaurant or shopping mall, or an expensive gallery that will draw a more select audience.

Deal with Logistics Pop-up stores come with their own unique challenges. Depending on whether you want to offer food and drinks or arrange for cashless payments, you might have to get permits, partnerships, and Wi-Fi connectivity even for your temporary set-up.

Saving Money on a Pop-Up in New York

A pop-up venue isn't necessarily cheap just because it's temporary. However, there's no need for it to break the bank either.

Keep your budget in mind.

You surely want your pop-up to look exactly how you imagine it. But you should also keep your budget and constraints in mind. Don't forget that you are paying by the hour so don't waste time at your venue.

Look for partnerships.

Creativity can boost creativity. You can partner with influencers who will promote your products on their channels at no cost and send them your products to share with their followers. Just make sure to pick influencers who are popular among your target audience!

What amenities do you need?

A retail space often comes with certain amenities already attached. See if you can set up your space adequately with the lighting and props that are available. A window display in a store or cafe would be an enormous benefit if you could negotiate for it.
