This dance studio is in a renovated double shotgun home on the commercial Saint Claude Avenue corridor in New Orleans. We have a lobby/reception area, two dance studios with full length mirrors on one wall, (one original hard wood floor, one lighter plywood sprung floor), two bathrooms, a back storage area/dressing room, and a backyard that is partially a wood deck and partially flooring. The larger studio with a sprung floor has a mural with the Dancing Grounds logo on it, and and two large canvasses that do not have a logo them. Our smaller studio with the wood floor has a photo exhibit of New Orleans' second line parades and Mardi Gras Indians. Historic French Quarter building, built in 1835. Location was the home of a historic recording studio owned and operated by Cosmo Matassa. As one of the birthplaces of Rock and Roll famous musicians such as Ray Charles, Professor Longhair, Fat's Domino, Lloyd Price all recorded in this building. Most notably the place that Little Richard recorded Tootie Frootie. The building is located directly across the street from Armstrong park and has a lot of lighting and large windows. Currently the location is half retail, Arts and Antiques, and half Laundromat. Great location for retail, laundromat filming, French quarter and Armstrong Park street view filming. Access to the balcony overlooking Armstrong Park is available for filming/photoshoots as well.
