Wonderful location if you're looking for a loft style space. As a heads up to any people seeking to record audio, there is a chance of noise from the street and neighboring buildings. Our host Chelsea was very welcoming and amenable to any requests we had. Would recommend!

OMG this was a really nice space to use. Rebekah is super consistent with communication and she responds quickly. I was allowed to use lights and props which made things much easier for me. I didn’t even need to bring as much equipment as I did. Will definitely use this space again.

Visually the home was absolutely perfect for our shoot. The host was incredibly kind and accommodating and was available if we needed help, but also gave us the space we needed to create. The living room area where we shot most of our footage was oversized and gave us plenty or room to have cameras, lighting equipment and monitors without creeping into the filming space. I will make note that if you are sensitive to cats and smells that come with them, this space may not be for you.

The Best Events for a Commercial Kitchen Space in Houston

There are advantages to using a fully licensed commercial kitchen where you don't have to stress about equipment or anything else. Just look through the Giggster website and choose from among 271 venues for the proper space for you!

Photo Shoot – Sparkling Clean Backdrops. Whether you want the rustic background of wood tables and counter tops or ultra-modern vibes with a huge refrigerator and freezer in the background, these Houston kitchens are built to deliver. Large windows that let in sunshine can only be a plus.

Music Video – Domestic and Cute Vibes. Trying to shoot a cute and romantic music video for a new song and want the background of a ranch-style kitchen? We've got you covered. For something even more professional, a studio with one office space where you can hash out ideas with your team is great.

Pop-Ups – Well-Equipped Kitchens. The thing with commercial kitchens is that they have the kind of space and multiple prep areas that you just might not get in your own kitchen. You and your team can quickly get started on making all sweet and savory treats before it's time for the big finale.

Film – Capture the Moment. Giving your actors an actual kitchen space to play around in lends an air of authenticity and fun to your scene that can't be replicated elsewhere. Even if you're in a studio with a kitchen set, allow them to get lost in the hijinks of the scene.

Commercial – Show Off Your Products. Whether it's a cafe and tea room with a designated bakery space or a commissary kitchen with state-of-the-art equipment, a grand backdrop certainly helps sell your products. What you want from a commercial, after all, is to show off your products and skills in their natural environment.

Top Features to Look for in a Houston Commercial Kitchen Venue

Before you book any space, it's essential that you look into what features the space is offering.

How many cast and crew can fit? Whether it's just a production studio or a home kitchen with a proper office space, there's only so much space. Make sure that your cast and crew will fit inside.

Does the space have all the major equipment? From a freezer to a flat top grill and double convection ovens, these production spaces must have both proper kitchen equipment to the lighting and backdrops needed for filming.

What kind of atmosphere does it have? Whether it's a historic manor with a spacious kitchen or a large studio with a specific kitchen space, every one of these has a certain look and aesthetic. Pick out what you need.

Things to Consider for Renting a Commercial Kitchen Venue in Houston

Commercial kitchens have a lot of uses, especially in cases of production, but there are still some pros and cons to consider.

Advantages

  • These kitchen spaces are very versatile, and you can use them to bake goodies as samples for your client meetings or shoot spectacular videos.

  • They have the kind of storage space, lighting, and professional equipment that your home kitchen just won't have and that you'll need for the food business or food photography.

  • Additionally, you can separate your home life and work life with the help of commercial kitchens.

Disadvantages

  • If you're renting restaurants with a commercial kitchen or studios with a kitchen space, they'll have their own timings and rules, and restrictions.

  • You'll have to clear up everything and clear out by the given hour in case someone else is coming in after you to use the space, unlike with your home.

  • There's the matter of getting filming permits and licenses, which might take time and resources.

Getting Ready for a Houston Commercial Kitchen Venue

It's all very well to decide that you're going to do a culinary photo shoot to expand your business or mentally prepare to shoot a kitchen scene for a film. But filming on location is another matter altogether.

Find the Venue – One thing you might not know is that finding a studio that's equipped to deal with this kind of shooting is much harder than finding a house with a fully equipped kitchen. Yes, you'll have to put thought into lighting and camera angles, but it's still cheaper and more practical.

Arrange the Lighting – Most kitchens are naturally well lit, either with large industrial lights or with large windows that let in lots of sunshine. But if you do need to get other lighting equipment in, make sure it's not in the way of the chefs.

Block the Scene – Kitchen scenes in films and reality shows have a frenetic pace to them, while tutorials are usually quite calm and peaceful. But whether the cooking equipment and food or the actors are your focus, you'll have to get your actors to block the scene in advance.

Do Shot Selections – Shoots are done in multiple ways, and you might decide to be spontaneous, or you might have all the shots worked out in your mind beforehand. That doesn't mean you don't need to double-check to make sure you have everything you need.

Saving Money on a Commercial Kitchen Event

With properties available at just $25/hour on Giggster, there's no reason that you can't set up your production at very cheap prices.

Speak to local crews.

Yes, it's not Los Angeles or New York, but Houston's a big enough city that there are plenty of professional cameramen and directors that you might hire to help you out.

Check out the kitchen space beforehand.

If you could make an appointment to scope out the kitchen and office space beforehand, you'll know exactly how to frame your shots or what extra props you might need to get.

Rent or borrow equipment.

From table linen and cake stands to make your food look extra good to special camera lenses that you don't already possess, borrow from friends or rent from a rental store instead of dropping money on new things.
