I needed a peaceful, creative space to bring my senior leadership team for an off-site, day-long meeting. The goal was to have a time of celebration and do some business planning for the upcoming year. The Yellow House Inn was the perfect choice for my meeting. Julie ensured we were all set for a successful day, and my team LOVED the setting. Being away from the office for the day, in such a serene environment enabled us to have an enjoyable and effective time together. I would highly recommend The Yellow House Inn for any type of meeting or event.

We reserved the main space on the ground floor for a nonprofit Board retreat on a Sunday morning, and it was lovely! We checked out the loft, too, which is also a fabulous space with a community area and nooks. The location is central and historic, adding to the appeal. Parking was easy at the app/web-based pay lot directly across the street. Joy set up a beautiful display for us of coffee, tea, and water - a station along the wooden bar. Natural sunlight streams in through the bank of long windows across the front, amplified by the beautiful mirrors along the main wall. The furniture options contributed to the inviting, comfortable aesthetic while also being easy to arrange for our needs. Joy was a gracious host - from the moment we booked the space, she was highly responsive and clear in answering our questions so we knew what to expect on site. Overall, a great location and neat space that worked well for our team.

Pros and Cons of Meetings in Asheville

Before you book guest rooms or meeting spaces in Asheville, double-check to see if it’s the right fit for you.

Advantages

Plenty of outdoor activities
North Carolina is stunning, and Asheville serves as the entryway to the mountains, which are only a short distance away. If outdoor activities are part of your conference agenda, take your colleagues or clients for hiking, cycling, horseback riding in West Asheville, or venture to the beach just a day's trip away.

Venue Availability
Asheville offers a variety of venues suitable for different types of meetings, whether it's a private dining room for an evening meeting or a cozy loft for teambuilding.

Good connectivity
Asheville is home to the Asheville Regional Airport, which is a major international airport with connections to practically every part of the globe. There are flights to Detroit, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Denver, Dallas, and Newark, so if you have visitors or colleagues flying in from surrounding locations for your meeting, they will have no trouble getting there.

Disadvantages

Heavy tourism traffic
Because Asheville is located in a beautiful area and receives a large number of tourists, particularly during the summer, you will find that the traffic is crowded and heavy. Allow sufficient time to travel to and from your meeting space in Asheville.

Need a car to get around
Asheville's infrastructure is incompatible with the city's fast growth, making it difficult for pedestrians and cyclists to get around. The city is becoming increasingly gridlocked in all directions, making it difficult to walk safely. For your upcoming meeting, it would be ideal to rent a car for convenient transportation in the city.

Flooding possibilities
Although Asheville is not susceptible to natural disasters such as tornadoes, it frequently floods during heavy rainfall, especially in the lower valley areas. Because some streets lack sufficient drainage and may flood, find a meeting spot that is in a good location.

Book a meeting room in downtown Asheville, and then visit the Biltmore Estate, which isn't far away.

River Arts District
The River Arts District, the RAD, is an Asheville neighborhood and creative zone. This region used to be filled with warehouses and mills, but now it is filled with stunning murals, artisan studios, art galleries, pottery, and glass-blowing studios. The nightlife is vibrant, and there are numerous cafés, restaurants, and live music venues. For your meeting, choose an event space in the center of downtown, close to the River Arts District.

Western North Carolina Nature Center

It is 42 acres in size and home to a variety of creatures, including the American black bear, American red wolf, barn owls, corn snakes, Eastern box turtles, and others.
