About the Space
About Historical Sweetgum Manor: Located in North Avondale, Sweetgum Manor sits on 4.5 acres of beautifully lush land. Although newly renovated and designed, the space carries forth it’s rich history. Sweetgum Manor was once the home of Dr. O'Dell Owens; the renowned former City Coroner and health equity and fertility pioneer. And, before him, Dr. Clinton Buford (whose family helped raise Dr. Owens), who was among the first black doctors to practice in Cincinnati around 1950. He is credited with being the first black doctor in the city to limit his practice to General Surgery and also received recognition from the National Medical Association for fighting for the rights of black doctors to practice in the city. Thoughtfully furnished and decorated with luxurious style, this space offers variety, texture, and uniqueness ideal for video and photography shoots.
