Bright, clean, stylish and functional space with lots of seating. We hosted approximately 40 guests for a private farewell party. We were able to serve our own food and drink, which included alcohol with a Special Occasion Permit from the AGCO (purchased separately). We played our own music with the location's bluetooth sound system, which was very easy to use and sounded great. Staff very accommodating and quick to respond to any questions we had about the space. I'd gladly book this venue for a similar event in the future!

Find Farewell Party venues

Goodbyes are hard but that doesn't mean you can't celebrate. You want them to know they'll be missed and wish them good luck as you part ways, so organize the most memorable going-away party. Home or offices are good options, but make it more special for your friend, colleague, or family member by booking a unique farewell party venue.

The Best Farewell Party Venues

Where you host the event can mean the difference between a decent party and an extraordinary one, so give it some thought before deciding on the venue. Check out these popular and unconventional going-away party spaces worth considering.

Rooftop Lounge
Whether it’s a birthday party, a romantic dinner, or a farewell feast, there’s nothing like immersing yourself in the captivating scenery of a rooftop lounge. Soak in the panoramic view with a bottle of craft beer or a glass of wine under the twinkling stars at night.

Cocktail Bar
Before moving to a new place or leaving for a long trip, gather your whole family and friends to enjoy the cozy and carefree atmosphere at a cocktail bar. Book a table or a private room, order your favorite bar snacks, try their signature craft cocktails, and get everyone on the dance floor for a fun-filled evening.

Brewery or Winery
Breweries and wineries are taking the events industry by storm. Instead of the traditional venues like hotels, banquet halls, and restaurants, many pick these fun spots for corporate and private events. Outside the venue, there’s often a beer garden, a vineyard, or an outdoor area where guests can relax, enjoy the scenery, and embrace the beauty of nature.

Outdoor Space
If the weather permits, why not take the party outdoors? Build happy memories at a lush park, the beach, or a botanical garden before sending a friend from work or a loved one off. You can plan interactive games and activities to keep everyone engaged.

Amenities and More: What to Look for in Farewell Party Venues

It's easy to be confused and overwhelmed with the plenty of venue options to choose from. But if you have a party idea in mind and know what your event should feel and look like, you can make a more informed choice.

Cost
The cost of a venue differs, and there are numerous factors that can contribute to its overall cost like the location, amenities, services, and the season. Determine how much you can spend on the venue and explore your options based on that price range.

Size
It doesn't matter if it's held in a hip bar, a vibrant nightclub, or an elegant ballroom. If it's too big or overcrowded for your group, the experience won't be as comfortable and fun as you wanted it to be, which is why the venue should be able to accommodate your guest list comfortably.

Ambiance
Since it's probably the last time for your group to be complete or it will take a while for everyone to get together, you'll want to leave a lasting impression on attendees. One way to achieve this is by selecting a party space with the right ambiance that aligns with the atmosphere and vibe you want to create.

Services
Does it offer on-site catering with a set menu or serve food based on your tastes and preferences? Does it have furniture and supplies or decor? These are a few questions you should ask the property owner or manager. You should also ask about their amenities like AV equipment, free Wi-Fi, restrooms, parking, etc.

Get Creative With Your Farewell Party Venue

Not all goodbyes are sad. Though it can mean something is ending, it’s also the start of a new adventure or chapter in one’s life. It can be a bittersweet experience for friends and family members—all the more reason to celebrate and throw a giant going-away party.

Instead of the typical casual gathering in a home or workplace, have a themed event at a rental place inspired by the guest of honor’s new destination or career. Party themes can also be random, like Hollywood, fairy party, casino, Alice in Wonderland, Luau, or masquerade.

Before the hard work of hauling boxes into the moving truck, how about scheduling a spa day with loved ones or co-workers? Fill your day with rejuvenating activities like facials, massages, manicures, and pedicures.

If your group loves cooking, book a kitchen space and invite a private chef to learn a new recipe. And the best part is you’ll get to eat what you made and pair it with your favorite cocktail. But if your crew isn’t into cooking, look for a food truck and try their selection of street food and local treats.

There’s more than one way to host a goodbye party, so find the best one that works for you. It doesn’t have to be grand and expensive to be memorable and exciting.

Farewell Party Checklist

Planning a phenomenal leaving party but don't know where to start? Follow these steps to remain organized and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

Pick a Date and Venue
Decide when and where the send-off party will take place. It can be a day, a few days, or a week before the guest of honor leaves, depending on availability. Book the venue early to have more options and help you secure your desired event space.

Prepare the Invitations
Once you've set the date and secured the venue, you can start preparing the invites and sending them to the whole crew or chosen guests. The invitations serve as a window to the occasion—it gives them a glimpse of the party and makes them look forward to it.

Choose a Caterer
Is it a sit-down dinner, a buffet, or do you prefer a food truck catering? No matter your choice, the caterer should not only create a delicious meal but also a visually appealing one that satisfies everyone's eyes and palates.

Plan Activities
You want everyone to have a fun time at your private event, so think of activities they'll enjoy. Set up a photo booth or an entertainment area with board games, pinball machines, and other arcade games. You can also set aside time for close friends to share their messages or present a slideshow that highlights the wonderful memories you've created with everyone.

Document the Farewell Bash
You'll miss them when they're gone and you're probably unsure when you'll meet again after the send-off party. So, hire a photographer to take snapshots of the party, the people, and the random moments that will make everyone smile as they look at those photos in the future.

Unlock Your Creativity: Farewell Party Inspiration

Perhaps, it's your first time sending a special someone off to a new place or you're assigned to plan a going-away celebration for a colleague. Here are several inspired farewell party ideas to spark your imagination:

Backyard Picnic Party
It doesn't have to be an extravagant affair. Of course, it would be great to host it in a five-star hotel and resort, but a backyard gathering is just as special if the right people are present. Combine natural elements like flowers and pots of plants with balloons and streamers for a festive look.

Game Night or Day
Some say that parting is such sweet sorrow, but you can make it less sorrowful and more fun by organizing a game night (or day). Lighten the atmosphere and keep the party alive with board games or set up tables for your own version of a casino night.

Packing Party
You want to see all your friends and closest family members, but you suddenly have to move, so there’s no time for parties and games. The solution? Throw a packing party. It’s like hitting two birds in one stone—not only can you get much-needed help packing your stuff but you’ll also get to spend time with the people you care about.

Cocktail Celebration
Need an excuse to gather at your favorite cocktail bar for one last happy hour? You can also book a banquet hall or a restaurant that has a bar setup and discuss with the bartender the cocktail menu you want to create that the guests will enjoy.

Intimate Garden Party
Pitch the tent, set up the chairs and tables, and decorate the garden for an intimate send-off party. Encourage everyone to wear cowboy hats for sun protection and to match your Wild West theme.
