This place is fantastic! The host's are so kind and helpful! They accommodated our group's last minute booking and late night shoot, we also went over our time and they were more than willing to work with us so we could finish our shoot, something you don't see from every host on here. I would definitely book this location in the future and recommend it to any filmmaker out there!

Wow - I had so much fun yesterday at this location. The hosts are incredible people with the kindest and most welcoming hearts. Thank you so much for being so accommodating and even bringing us the AC/fan when we didn’t even have to ask for it! Pure light all around this set, I mean that literally and vibrationally speaking! Didn’t even have to pull out any of my lighting as their set provided great natural lighting as well!! Thanks so much and so excited to return! As Terminator would say “I’ll be back!”

About Convenience Store Locations

Convenience stores are often found in highly populated or well-trafficked areas and are a great option for content creators looking to shoot at a unique location. They come in all shapes and sizes, from the familiar gas station mini-marts to convenience store chains like 7-Eleven, and offer an ideal backdrop for a variety of settings, from the typical urban street corner to small neighborhoods.

The layout of convenience stores allows for easy filming, with plenty of natural lighting, and walls lined with shelves full of merchandise such as snacks, beverages, cigarettes, lottery tickets, and more that can create interesting backdrops for visual storytelling. Plus, they often have convenient parking lots for quick loading and unloading as well as access to restrooms which may be necessary during long filming days. Many of these locations also feature outdoor seating areas where patrons can relax while having a snack or cigarette break. This makes them great for establishing shots or characters without having to leave the area. In addition to their practical characteristics, convenience stores can also provide unique atmospheres with neon signs, colorful décor, or even distinct signage that creates a strong sense of place within the shot.

The Best Events for Convenience Store Locations

  • Music Video
Convenience stores are often busy places filled with interesting people, making them great locations for music videos. The store setting provides an opportunity for creativity to be showcased through the song's story. The actors and dancers can be filmed interacting throughout the shop with the help of unique camera angles and props, such as candy, snacks, drinks, and magazines. Production teams can also utilize other shoppers in the store as extras and make sure everyone stays safe during filming by easily controlling who enters and exits the premises.

  • Commercial
Convenience stores are popular locations for commercial shoots because they’re often busy places with lots of customers coming in and out. This makes them ideal spots to film activities related to products or services being marketed in the commercial. In addition, convenience stores hold a wide variety of items that can be used during production, such as food items, beverages, cleaning supplies, electronics, etc., which creates endless possibilities for how the space might be utilized during filming.

  • Independent Film
Many independent filmmakers use convenience stores as part of their movie sets due to their affordability and availability when compared to other locations. Creative projects that involve convenience stores are also able to highlight aspects of everyday life in ways that aren’t typically portrayed onscreen — from mundane scenes featuring characters shopping or taking a break from their day-to-day lives at the store counter or cafe area — which adds depth and realism to films’ atmospheres and storylines.

  • Photo Shoots
A benefit of using a convenience store as a shooting location is its ability to provide an array of color palettes within its walls — whether through displays filled with brightly colored candies, an array of sodas filling glass-fronted coolers, or shelves stocked with cereal boxes boasting colorful designs, convenience store spaces allow photographers plenty of options when selecting backgrounds for their pictures. Additionally, photographing people performing everyday tasks in this environment can add narrative depth and new dimensions to visual stories being told through photos too.

What to Look for in Convenience Store Locations

  • Size and Aesthetic
The convenience store should be spacious enough to fit both the crew and equipment necessary for a project. This can also include the ability to move easily through the store or having enough room to set up a shooting location. Additionally, it is important to consider the aesthetic of the convenience store. See if something unique about this location could bring an interesting element to your creative project.

  • Lighting
It is important to look at the natural lighting of the space. Natural lighting can help transform shots and add personality and mood to a scene. Ideally, this should be taken into consideration with both indoor and outdoor locations. Make yourself aware of any windows that could allow you to take advantage of natural light, as well as how much control or manipulation you have over the space’s lighting in general.

  • Accessibility
Ensure that you are able to get to the space easily, as well as have ample parking space or access to nearby public transit. Make sure to check if there are any restrictions on when you can use the location (some may require permission from management). The last thing anyone wants is for their project to be interrupted by unexpected obstacles.

  • Props and Amenities
If you’re looking for props or other amenities (such as furniture) as part of your production, then you’ll need to factor this into your decision process when selecting a convenience store. Consider if there are any in-store items that could help convey your message further through visual storytelling, like fridges full of drinks or shelves stocked with snacks. This could add extra detail and texture to shots.

How to Make a Convenience Store Event Better

  • Pre-Production Preparations
Visit the location ahead of time and take note of how much space there is and what kind of products are available. This will help plan for any necessary props or equipment to be brought in with you, as well as help to look for potential issues that may arise once production starts.

  • Familiarize the Crew
Familiarize yourself with any safety regulations that may be in effect at the store and also ensure that all crew members are comfortable working in such a tight environment, if applicable. Additionally, consider any questions that may arise during filming and have the answers ready ahead of time so you can quickly address them when needed.

  • Set Up an Agreement
Outline what areas will be used when filming and obtain permission to use their space during production hours. Ask the store manager if they have any specific rules such as noise levels or restrictions on equipment placement so everyone is on the same page before shooting begins.

  • Plan Out Your Routes
To maximize efficiency and reduce wasted time looking for props or equipment during production sessions, spend some time mapping out different paths through the store for crew members to follow when moving about. This can help speed up processes which result in more productive shoots overall.

  • Utilize Natural Lighting
Be mindful of shadows cast by objects within the store and try to place lights around these items to avoid too much contrast between light tones within shots. It is also important to ensure that no bare light bulbs are exposed when shooting so that reflections aren’t created on surfaces within shots that could create unwanted results upon editing footage after shooting has concluded.
