About
ArtFarm Movie Ranch is a 12-acre private family ranch, tucked in a secluded valley at the end of the road, surrounded by the Angeles National Forest. Just over an hour from Los Angeles, this hidden gem offers productions rare access to immersive natural landscapes and a visually curated collection of production-ready, cinematically styled spaces
“ArtFarm Movie Ranch” represents an artistic identity and creative banner, not a commercial studio designation.
The property operates as a non-commercial, family-run homestead, and the ArtFarm Movie Ranch name is the creative identity through which our private ranch engages with the film and entertainment industry — reflecting our artistic vision, cinematic landscape, and dedication to authentic storytelling.
All productions must carry FilmLA permits and comply with local county, health and fire codes.
ArtFarm serves as a creative playground for Visual storytellers seeking story-rich terrain, authentic ranch aesthetics, and high-desert magic.
My team absolutely loved loAn Indie Filmmaker’s Dream Location – 5 Cinematic Sets, Endless Possibilities
Our team had the pleasure of filming our independent feature at ArtFarm Movie Ranch, and it was hands-down one of the most rewarding production experiences we’ve ever had. We shot over 5 days, and each day we were able to utilize a completely different environment without ever leaving the property. The sheer variety of cinematic backdrops made our film look like we’d traveled across multiple states.
1. The Cliffside Saloon & Desert Ridge
We opened the film with scenes at the Cliffside Saloon — perched on a ridge overlooking rolling desert hills. The rustic wood, panoramic vistas, and weathered details gave us an authentic Western/post-apocalyptic vibe. Golden hour here was simply unreal, with soft light wrapping around the desert ridge.
2. The Enchanted Forest Clearing
Day two brought us deep into the forested section of the ranch. Towering pines, scattered manzanita, and natural pathways created a magical, secluded atmosphere that worked perfectly for our character’s dreamlike escape sequence. The owners even have 30 amps available in the forest, which was a lifesaver for our night shoot. We were able to stage “full moon” lighting above the trees, and the glow filtering through the canopy felt nothing short of cinematic magic.
3. The Seasonal Creekbed & Rope Bridge
This location gave us the moody, textured look we needed for a survival sequence. The creekbed (dry when we filmed, but still rich with character) and the rustic rope bridge created depth and tension. With some haze and handheld camera work, the space felt like another world.
4. Retro Trailer Camp & Wash House
On day four, we shifted into the retro trailer camp, which includes vintage Airstreams and a weathered wash house set. This gave us both a nostalgic Americana look and some grittier production value. The details were so layered that we barely needed to dress the set.
5. Inspiration Point & StarLounge
We wrapped with a sunrise scene at Inspiration Point — overlooking a valley that truly captures the spirit of the high desert. Later that night, we staged campfire dialogue scenes under the stars at the StarLounge. The natural stillness, paired with desert night skies, gave us exactly the emotional resonance we wanted to close the film.
Crew Experience & Hosts
The ranch team was professional, welcoming, and truly film-savvy. They understand production needs — from staging areas and parking to helping us adapt to fire season regulations. Having bathrooms, kitchens, and power access steps away from even the most remote-looking sets made our shoot run smoothly.
Final Thoughts
ArtFarm Movie Ranch is a rare gem: a multi-location film backlot disguised as a natural high-desert ranch. In just 5 days, we shot scenes that looked like five different worlds. The locations elevated our indie feature far beyond its budget, and we’re already planning our next project here.
Highly recommended for filmmakers looking for variety, authenticity, and a touch of desert magic.

We had such an incredible experience filming our music video at ArtFarm Movie Ranch! 🌵🎬 The location is breathtaking — from the golden hills to the unique sets, everything gave our shoot a cinematic, one-of-a-kind atmosphere.
A huge shoutout to Saskia, who truly saved the day. 🙌 When we had a last-minute prop mishap, she not only came up with a brilliant solution that actually made the video even more magical, but also generously allowed us to extend our shoot with 5 extra hours for pick-ups. That kind of support and flexibility is rare, and it made all the difference.
I first discovered ArtFarm Movie Ranch during a magical meteor shower watching event back in 2022. 🌠 From that night, I immediately fell in love with the land, the atmosphere, and the creative spirit of the place.
Now in spring 2025, I had the joy of returning — this time with a full music video crew — and the experience was nothing short of inspiring. The ranch offered endless cinematic backdrops that elevated our project to another level.
If you’re looking for a film-friendly space with breathtaking scenery and a host who genuinely cares about your production, ArtFarm Movie Ranch is a dream location. We’re already excited to return for the next project!
So grateful for Saskia as an amazing and accommodating host! Art Farm has something for everyone. Saskia and her team have made Art Farm Movie Ranch a mecca for student and independent filmmakers and have curated a space where creativity can thrive. I will definitely be back. Thank you Saskia!
As a USC film student who produced a short film at Artfarm in March 2025, I couldn't recommend them enough! On a cinematic level the space is incredibly expansive and provides you with a plethora of options--I'm sure you could achieve all sorts of genres here--and Saskia, the location manager, is just wonderful to work with. She was super flexible and considerate to our creative vision, and made the entire process smooth and fruitful for all parties. At the ranch itself, the staff was exceptionally proactive and kind when they helped us with power issues and logistics questions, all while being really fun to work with.
If you think Artfarm could work for your film--I'd fully encourage you work with them!
