Nora was amazing! Her space is a cool San Francisco Store front with large front windows! Inside it is decorated with antique furniture and really cool art everywhere. The walls are custom painted works of art. I rented it for a photoshoot. I had room to bring in lighting and also used some of the great ambient lighting that was available from the windows. The space was just what I needed. I look forward to working with Nora again in the future!

Los Angeles has never felt more Zen. Nestled in Topanga Canyon, this location seems as if it were carved from a sacred mountain. It's within the studio zone, yet it feels like a different country entirely. Brian was easy to communicate with, and his staff was both helpful and knowledgeable. While parking is limited, a nearby church lot is available for rent for cast and crew.

The hosts are absolutely amazing! I'm already thinking of other opportunities to use this location. I can't speak highly enough about how available they made themselves and how easy they were to work with.

Debby and her colleagues were incredibly kind and communicative. There was always quick communication/responses, kindness, willingness to help. The space itself was also great, well decorated, and looked great on camera. Easy to park, unload equipment, and shoot. Note: was cat hair in the location for those who have allergies.

Pros and Cons of Garden Events in New York

There are many benefits to having a garden event in New York City. Some of the advantages and disadvantages include the following:

Advantages

  • The average rental price of garden spaces for events in New York is significantly lower than that of living spaces.

  • When you're overwhelmed by city life's hustle and bustle, garden events can provide a tranquil escape.

  • Garden events can increase property values. Studies have shown that localities with well-maintained gardens sell for more than those without gardens.

Disadvantages

  • Garden events require time to organize. A garden is not for you if you're unwilling to do the work.

  • If the idea of dealing with common pests like rodents, insects, and snakes doesn't appeal to you, perhaps a garden isn't the right venue for your event.

  • People get hurt in gardens yearly because of overgrown foliage, hidden sharp objects, and slippery surfaces, so before hosting an event, you need landscaping and maintenance.

Tips on How to Organize Garden Events in New York

Finding enough space for your event can be tricky if you live in a big city. Here are some tips on how to get organized and make the most of your garden event spaces:

  • Ask for recommendations: Consider hosting a garden event to gather ideas and input from neighbors and fellow greenthumbs. Ask for their advice on how best to utilize the space for the event.

  • Make a plan: Draw a plan for where each plant will go and create separate sections for flowers, vegetables, and herbs to keep everything organized during the event. Before purchasing plants or starting any gardening projects, check with your building management or local government to ensure the event's compliance with any balconies or fire escape regulations.

  • Design guests' space: Don't forget about designated areas for seating or hosting gatherings – incorporating functional elements into your garden event will add convenience and charm.

Famous Locations in New York

  • Slocum Memorial Fountain
The Slocum Memorial Fountain, situated in Tompkins Square Park in New York City, is a historically significant memorial that remembers the over 1,000 individuals who lost their lives during the General Slocum steamship fire tragedy of 1904. The event remains one of America's most deadly maritime disasters even to this day. The fountain comprises a simple stone column with two engraved children and a lion head sculpture on top, which streams water into a little basin below. The memorial might have a sad subject, but it serves as a reminder of how delicate life is and how crucial safety measures are. The next time you're in Tompkins Square Park, take some time to appreciate this piece of history and pay your respects to those lost during the General Slocum tragedy.

  • Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space (MoRUS)
Activism among tenants ensued once these changes were enacted, and they began working together to reclaim abandoned buildings for positive uses. The MoRUS website does an excellent job of displaying the history and current challenges groups like the Lower East Side Collective and Green Guerillas face. The group spearheads projects, such as gardens in deprived areas and community centers in abandoned buildings. These provide crucial resources for people living there and symbolize resistance against gentrification and relocation. MoRUS is the perfect place for anyone wanting to learn how grassroots activism impacts city landscapes.

  • The 'Goodnight Moon' House (Cobble Court)
The Goodnight Moon House is a historic farmhouse located on Charles Street. The house where "Goodnight Moon" was set was purchased by author Margaret Wise Brown and illustrator Clement Hurd in 1948. It has been home to famous tenants like writer Norman Mailer, poet e.e. cummings, and choreographer George Balanchine. The garden appears several times throughout the book, alongside the house. Surprisingly, visitors can still see a butterfly and cow leaping over the moon if they look hard enough. Even though Cobble Court is old and small, it remains an iconic part of American literary history.
