Great space, very accommodating and very Covid safe. With divider screens and hand sanitizer we had a good amount of space to keep social distancing etc. I can recommend this for anybody looking for a clean, contemporary space.

With a population of around 60,000, Hoboken is just large enough to have a city feel while staying small enough to avoid some of the hassles of a larger city. Hoboken was originally a port and industrial city, and these industries have given way to an arts and culture scene as well as other businesses that support the community and economic development.

Pros and Cons of Video Shoot Options in Hoboken

Any city comes with its share of the good, the bad, and the ugly, even on the east coast. It’s up to you to decide whether the majority lies with the good or the bad. Here are the pros and cons of video shoot options in Hoboken.

Advantages

  • The arts
The arts scene in Hoboken, NJ is alive and thriving. There is a huge arts culture in the city, it embraces and encourages the arts, making it a welcome community for professionals and aficionados alike. You’ll feel right at home during your video shoot in this city.

  • NYC feeling
Hoboken is home to people that want to live in New York City or Manhattan without the stresses that come with living in “the city” – and that’s made Hoboken an upscale and trendy place to live and work without the crowds and traffic.

  • Convenience
It’s easy to get in and out of Hoboken. The proximity to New York City and major transportation infrastructure lends itself to video shoots and other professional projects. The city also has an array of private transportation alternatives.

Disadvantages

  • Smog
New Jersey’s air quality index is always in the news, and not for good reasons. Unfortunately, Hoboken isn’t immune from these challenges. The smog and air pollution aren’t great and should be considered before booking a video shoot here.

  • Snow, sleet, and freezing rain
Winter weather can be a challenge in the Northeast, and again, Hoboken’s idyllic location is diminished when snow, sleet, and freezing rain are in the forecast. The good news is that this is nothing new, and the city knows how to prepare for and clean up from whatever Mother Nature delivers.

  • Traffic
The proximity to New York City and the sterling reputation that Hoboken has for its arts and culture scene have increased its popularity over the years. As such, the traffic and congestion in the city have also increased.

Famous Locations in Hoboken

  • Sinatra Park
Sinatra Park is located along the Hudson River and is home to an amphitheater, kayak launch, and sports playing fields. The river walkway also has a fun, new feature, the Frank Sinatra statue, which was dedicated in December 2021. Stop and get your photo with old blue eyes (note: his eyes aren’t blue on the statue) and memorialize your visit.

  • Hoboken Farmers’ Market
New Jersey is known as the Garden State, and you can enjoy some of that fresh garden produce by stopping by the Hoboken Farmers’ Market. It takes place on Thursday afternoons from June through October on the corner of 13th Street and Hudson. Even if you’re not in the shopping mood, it’s fun to stroll through and see everything the local farmers have to offer.

  • Birthplace of Baseball Monument
Hoboken is the birthplace of baseball – the first game was played here at Elysian Fields in 1846. Alexander Cartwright organized the game (and played in it) for the Knickerbocker Baseball Club of New York. You can visit the monument at the intersections of 11th Street and Washington Street. It’s a small, bronze plaque at the base of a tree.
