Pros and Cons of Team Building Venues in London

No matter what city you choose to host your team building space in, there will be pros and cons. Although no place is perfect, it is important to know the advantages and disadvantages of a location before booking the venue.

Advantages

  • Surrounded by famous landmarks
There is no denying that London is an iconic city with a very rich history. Places like Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London will be so close to your venue, making it an exciting place to visit and a memorable location for the attendees.

  • Live music, art galleries and theatres
London is a city that is very well versed in all forms of art. Festivals, live performances and concerts are all performed daily, and the hundreds of art galleries and museums are also a core part of the town's culture. This means you can attend an event as a group after your team building activities.

  • Public transportation
This city is very populated, and it can be hard to get around by car. Luckily, the city has implemented an affordable bus route as well as the tube, a network of underground rails that travel to anywhere in the city. Just keep in mind that, even though these public transportation options will get you there, the town can get quite congested at rush hour and with traffic both on the street and on the trains it can take a while to get around.

Disadvantages

  • Air pollution
London’s air quality is not satisfactory compared to other cities, most likely due to the increase in traffic-related to tourism. If you are someone who has asthma or other respiratory issues, you may want to avoid the busiest areas of the city or be prepared to breathe in some pollutants.

  • High cost of living
Everything from rent to clothes, food and utilities in the city will be pretty expensive. If you are planning your London team building venue on a budget, be prepared for the high cost of living here.

  • Unpredictable weather
You may notice how much Londoners complain about the weather, and they are right. The climate can often be unpredictable, with very hot days quickly changing to cold and windy conditions. As well, the weather here has a tendency to be dark and gloomy, with overcast days being a common occurrence.

Famous Locations in London

  • National Gallery

Here you can observe paintings dating anywhere from 1260 to 1920, and some of the prized exhibits include works from young Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Monet and Botticelli. If you are looking for a unique venue, consider renting the Sainsbury wing in The National Gallery, London.

  • Winston Churchill War Rooms
These well preserved and historical rooms are the very places that Prime Minister Winston Churchill gave orders to the British military during the second world war. You can see the very cubicle where Churchill stayed day and night, giving speeches and broadcasts over radio. You can learn all about it while listening to audio tours, and afterward visit the bookshop and cafe found nearby.

  • St Paul’s Cathedral
London is home to several churches, the most famous being St Paul’s Cathedral. This building was rebuilt in 1666 when the original one was destroyed during the huge fire that burned most of London. The 365 foot interior of the dome boasts an incredible view and is a masterpiece of architecture.
