We had such a good time at the Roxy's Speakeasy. We had a birthday party and everything was wonderful. The bartender and the host were responsive, made us feel special and we all had a great time!

The theater itself was great, but the area outside felt a bit unsafe (but that's also because we booked until late at night) and the booth to control lights and audio required you to climb up a small ladder onto an attic space. Other than that, great communication, and I got everything I needed for exactly the right price!

Amazing place and this is a must go to gig the owner is a amazing kind hearted person and very helpful I highly recommend it for photo shoots and music videos even movies

This location surpasses expectations, especially when viewed through a camera lens. Ideal for anyone in need of an old theatre, it offers perfect filming conditions. Working with Michael and his team was a top-notch and enjoyable experience. Concerns about parking are mitigated by a convenient parking structure a mere 10-minute walk away, which our cast and crew used without issue. Additionally, for those requiring closer parking, ample metered street parking is available directly behind the theatre—just assign a production assistant to refresh the meter every two hours. Highly recommend renting this location; it's a decision you won't regret.

Why Choose Giggster to Rent a Concert Venue

Within the live music scene, there’s a surprising amount of room to do something different and redefine the concert experience. If you want to set yourself apart from the crowd, here are some creative venues to consider:

  • Calling all cool kids in need of an intimate venue! Our selection of entertainment lounges is waiting to host your exclusive house parties featuring the hottest local musicians. With multiple club chairs and seating areas, the spaces definitely give off a mix-and-mingle vibe.

  • Why not stage a show for your next music video or social media clips at a venue optimized for recording? With neon lighting and state-of-the-art sound tech, these stages are perfect for concert shots and acoustic sound checks.

  • An underground speakeasy is the perfect concert venue for jazz bands and soulful singers but could hold a full traditional band or DJ show as well. Craft cocktails and good food are given, plus they balance an exclusive atmosphere with a higher capacity so you can ramp up those ticket sales.

  • Looking for something a little different than your standard concert hall? An intimate gothic theatre, movie house, or comedy club is the solution. While still offering full stages, lighting, and theater seating, they are generally slightly smaller too so you can pack it to the gills and give the impression of a sold-out show! These are perfect for smaller musical performances and indie film festivals.

The Best Events for a Concert Venue in Denver

Even when you’re working with a fairly uncomplicated plan, there are small ways that your venue choice can elevate the concert-goer experience. Here are some unexpected concert ideas that will make your event stand out from the crowd:

  • Battle of the Bands – Friendly Competitions. Who needs a headliner when you can have several? Enlist all kinds of local talent, each with its own fan base, and drum up excitement over who will be titled the best band of all.

  • Intimate Acoustic/Reverb Recording – For Up-And-Coming Acts. Giving your fans a get-to-know-you kind of concert experience is like going back to your roots and playing a show for the first time. Scale down on all the theatrics and get back to what you really love- just you, the music, and the guitar.

  • Private Meet and Greet – Fan Moments. Every concert needs a meet and greet, but a VIP-only event that doubles as both is a great way to offer fans a once-in-a-lifetime experience (that they will, quite frankly, pay a lot of money for).

  • Album Release Party – Exclusive Event. What better way to debut a new album (and concert set list) than with an exclusive live performance from start to finish?

  • Film FestivalsIndie Nights. An independent film festival inside a movie theater is a great way to showcase local film talent to the community. You can also organize the festival in an outdoor venue and host a cinema-under-the-stars kind of show!

Top Features to Look for in a Denver Concert Venue

To lessen confusion in choosing the best concert venue, identify the essential features that are important to you and, from there, narrow down your options to the ones that have them.

How large is the space? Does it have ample room outside the door for queuing during ticket check/security? Check if it has VIP areas that you can upsell to maximize profit and hair and makeup rooms or backstage lounges for the talent.

Does it have top-of-the-line AV equipment and lighting? When it comes to live music, good quality sound is paramount, and not every artist will bring the whole shebang with them.

Does the venue offer in-house alcohol service and a full bar? While it may seem cheaper to DIY your refreshment options, licensing can be a headache, as can managing wholesale liquor orders if you’ve never done it before.

Things to Consider for Renting a Concert Venue in Denver

The Denver nightlife scene can be tricky to navigate, especially if you’re touring and don’t have the local know-how on reserve. Here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know to ensure your event goes off without a hitch:

Advantages

  • Denver is particularly well known for its nightlife, which means there will be no shortage of patrons scouting for something unique to do after dark.

  • This is a relatively safe city, with little more than common-sense caution needed.

  • You can visit a famous Denver institution while you're here! Summit Music Hall, Paramount Theatre, Ogden Theatre, and Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre are all in striking distance.

  • There are plenty of rideshare and taxi services available to help get everyone home safely and (relatively) affordably.

Disadvantages

  • Public transportation options at night are somewhat limited and locals suggest it’s not worth the hassle.

  • Hotels around the Denver area are pretty pricey, and rates will surge around big concerts and events, which might make targeting out-of-town concert-goers more challenging.

  • While catching a live music show is “the thing” to do in the city, there will also be tons of other events, creating a competitive market.

Planning Your Concert in Denver

Whether you’re the talent waiting for your big break without a manager and team working to make the dream happen, or you’re the staffer tasked with bringing the concert to life, here are a few planning tips to help make your event a success:

Book Your Talent – Whether you’re bringing in the biggest names from the other side of the world or inviting new local bands to hop up on stage, booking your artists should be your top priority. After all, that’s who will draw the crowd! When signing talent to your show, don’t forget opening acts for a well-rounded experience, unless your band brings their own collaborators.

Start Ticket Pre-sales and Promo – Use the time you have leading up to the concert to get the word out to your community! Start your social media marketing strategies and get some of your general admission tickets sold as soon as possible. The longer you have, the closer you’ll get to a sold-out show. You can explore creative ways to generate hype like posters on campus if students are your target audience.

Hire Additional Staff – A good crew is what makes the world go ‘round. For a smooth event, you’ll want ample security, cleaners, ushers, and ticketers on hand at a minimum. You can potentially outsource some of these hires by working with an agency, but remember that this is not an area where you want to scrimp and save.

Investigate Your Venue’s Location – From Lower Downtown to Greenwood Village, East Colfax and everything in between, knowing what’s in the neighborhood won’t just help you choose the perfect venue, but it will also help you anticipate what your patrons' needs and desires might be. What’s the vibe of the street? Will they be bar hopping and slinging cheap beer all night? Is there good food available nearby and after hours? Aim to fill gaps where you canit’s good business!

Saving Money on a Concert

Chances are, you’re hosting this gig to make money just for entertainment. That means minimizing costs to maximize your profits. Here are a few ways to cut costs behind the scenes that you may not have thought of.

Use a digital ticketing system.

Having tickets professionally printed, issued, and distributed can be rather costly. These days, the technology exists for easy online ticketing and scannable barcodes, so why not use that to your advantage? Not only will this cut down on material costs, but also labor and staffing.

Streamline merch selections.

By offering only a couple of merch designs and ordering in bulk, you can cut down on the upfront cost of having these items available for purchase. You can even bundle it with VIP tickets and generate pre-sales so very little comes directly out of pocket.

Keep detailed financial records.

Nothing blows a budget faster than forgotten or hidden costs. Keep extremely detailed copies of every contract and payment to ensure nothing is lost in the chaos. This will also come in handy come tax season when it's time to report your revenue.
