Built in 1959 and renovated in recent years to honor the original mid century vibe of the house, this location boasts unique vintage charm. Enter the Palm Springs style front yard, through the bright orange door, and into the interiors of the house, designed and decorated by the home’s owner who incidentally runs vintage furniture powerhouse Decorjois. We see postmodern, mid century, Art Deco, and brutalist pieces, punctuated by vintage marble and earthier organic modern accents. A brilliant Art Deco mirror reigns in the foyer, a pink Kagan-style sofa in the living room, a vintage Italian marble dining table elsewhere, etc. Four skylight windows (one in the foyer, two in the kitchen, and one in the master bathroom) were figured into the renovation, which means the house is light and bright all day, with architectural shadow play at all hours. The patio boasts white terrazzo tiles and Paul Frankl furniture, and the outdoor space is an Edenesque portrait of utter serenity, taking cues from the desert landscapes of Palm Springs, the tropical jungles of Tulum, and Japanese Zen gardens. There are sculptural boulders, flourishing jasmine and passion fruit hedges, and a saltwater pool (with jacuzzi at the far end). A wooden deck - laden with chic sunbeds - leads to an outdoor cabana with a built-in sofa and an outdoor bathroom. There is an outdoor TV, a fireplace, and there are fans and recessed lighting. The jungle lining the far end of the pool is also equipped with landscape lighting which means as the sun sets, the flora are ever illuminated. There is plenty of textured wall space and interesting shadow play which make for good portraiture. In a nutshell, a chic residence with plenty of engaging and eccentric scenery.
