Manvir was very communicative leading up to the event and her setup for the party looked great. Unfortunately things went downhill during her party when the guests clogged the toilet. In addition, although the booking ended at 2AM (including tear-down time), the party was still going at 2 and the final guests did not clear out until 3AM, hence the claim with This Open Space for the additional hour. She said that this would be a mature 30th birthday party, but the beer pong table that they set up indicated otherwise, as did the state of the attendees when we came to tear down the event. My staff was onsite for the beginning of the event and then we agreed that she would be on call nearby and was checking in regularly but reported that the guests said everything was fine until 1:30 when the toilet clogged. The clog was not a pre-existing issue as Manvir claims, but nonetheless plumbing is the landlord's responsibility so we agreed not to charge for the clog and the severe damage to our flooring and the ceiling downstairs caused by the flooding. With regards to her complaint about cleaning and garbage, Manvir had signed our paperwork which states that "Licensee shall leave the Event Space in the same condition than it was before booking. Host will monitor the cleanliness of the Event Space after the event and reserves its right to apply additional fees if cleaning is required after the event. Any waste that has been created during the event shall be cleaned up prior to Licensee’s departure and shall be disposed in the garbage, green bin and recycling bin available in the kitchen. Excess waste must be removed from the property by Licensee." The cleaning fee is for cleaning (floors, counters, etc.) after all waste has been removed and furniture has been moved back - the guest understood that this was part of the agreement when she signed to use the space and we reminded her of this fact at the start of the event, even asking her to delegate a responsible friend, as she was incapacitated due to alcohol by the end of her party. I regret that what started out as a great evening ended poorly. I have hosted many events and parties here and this was not at all typical. I hope it will be an isolated incident and that we can continue to work with clients who are mature and respectful of our space.
