Location worked out fantastic for all our scenes for our music video. Bracha was very communicative and worked quickly with me as we had just a few days to make our shoot happen.
Bracha was nice. However there were curve balls once we arrived at production day. Make sure to ask as many questions that pertain to your shoot as possible, including what kind of food is apparently allowed to be served on set. This is in regards to a snide comment given after the location team was late to arrive and slow to accommodate my already discussed needs with regards to the space.
I used this place for a video shoot and unfortunately booked it before doing a physical scout, lesson learned.
Don't be fooled by the pictures, this place is far from the pristine, nice looking facility you see here - it's rundown and underwhelming. Half of the court is shut down for construction with a variety of mess on it, and the other half has ripped wall pads, torn nets, worn down rims, and a dirty floor that they'll charge you extra for if you ask them to clean ahead of time. If you're taken around the building you'll find the rest of the place shares the messy disposition. To add insult to injury they are located in part of town with limited parking options and charge $75 a spot.
Additionally, the building's heating wasn't working which was embarrassing for my team given that we had client on-set and they were freezing the entire shoot. If you're planning on shooting in either of the locker rooms you should also be aware that they've since painted the women's locker room a different color than what's in the pictures listed. Lastly, I was also told after booking that we could only have Kosher food in the building, another detail they failed to disclose in their listing.
All in all this place was a total ripoff. Depending on what you're considering it for this may still be useful for you but please do your diligence and get a scout in first. The location manager Bracha was nice enough but upon seeing the location for myself it was painfully obvious they are intentionally misleading potential renters by not using updated pictures.
The staff at JEM Community Center are extremely friendly and accommodating! They provided everything we needed and the space was perfect for our needs. Definitely recommend renting from them!
