While on a family backpacking excursion through Sequoia King’s Canyon National Park, and the surrounding area, we came across this charming campground. A long-forgotten chapel in the mountains that was formerly a summer camp.
On the roughly 25-acre property, the front 8-acres is improved and maintained, the rest of the land is forested, but has roads and trails throughout. The structures on the property include:
- The Chapel: roughly 1,500 sq ft. Has concrete floors. Interior is empty, other than the pulpit at one end of the space.
- The Cabins: There are 5 cabins, each is 250 sq ft. Metal siding exterior/interior. They have concrete floors. Restoration of these cabins is ongoing, and presently, only one of the cabins has been restored. The interior of the restored cabin has a rustic feel. Wooden walls. Green/Brown paint. Two other cabins are cleaned out and empty, but have not been fixed up yet. One cabin has fire damage.
-Bathroom/Showers: There is a restroom building which has four toilet stalls and two tile showers. Also has a utility sink and a mirror. large space, might be useful as make-up wardrobe set-up space.
Tile showers, flush toilets, and laundry machines are available for your use.
Electrical power can be provided upon request, no problem. Potable well water is close at hand.
There is a natural cold spring creek that begins at the top of the property and runs down the entire length of the land. The creek flows through beautiful boulders under the shade of the trees, and includes lovely small waterfalls.
From here, a short 15-minute drive will take you directly to the main entrance of Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park for access to the Giant Sequoias at Grant Grove and the Grant Grove Village. Property may be useful as a base of operations, if you plan to work at the National Park or the National Forest.
We are excited to invite you to use the space for your event, film/photo shoot, ceremony, assembly, overnight group camping retreat, etc. while we undertake to restore the campground to its original splendor.
Easy drive to available parking, with easy access and pull through drive for any vehicle, even with trailers.
PLEASE NOTE: The campground restoration is a work in progress, so please note that some areas and buildings are in better shape than others. Also, work may be ongoing, but should not disturb your experience. Based on your intended use of the property, we will make certain that any such work is stopped and cleaned as needed.
