About the Space

This apartment occupies the garden floor of a two-family Renaissance Revival brownstone built in 1902 by prolific Brooklyn architect Axel Hedman. It’s situated on a quiet, tree-lined residential street in the Crown Heights Historic District. This two-bedroom apartment combines original period architectural detail such as wainscoting, shutters, and a striking fireplace with a mid-century design aesthetic. The bay-windowed open-plan living/dining space leads into a modern kitchen that features soapstone countertops and a Butler sink. A long hallway leads to the bright primary bedroom, which has a closet with full-length drapes and two large south-facing windows. There’s an additional bedroom across the hall with plenty of natural light. It’s sparsely furnished, so it can be used for storage or as a dressing room (a clothes rack is available). Outside of the two bedrooms is an updated modern bathroom with a deep soaking tub. At the rear of the apartment is a multi-faceted garden. A metal staircase, covered with ivy, winds down into the beautiful yard with a custom-built seating area and teak wooden patio. (See Add-ons for pricing.) Leading from the apartment to the sub-basement is a dramatic and moody hallway painted in Farrow & Ball’s studio green. Lastly, the cellar has a rustic ceiling with exposed beams, a concrete floor, and whitewashed walls. The space is currently set up as a home cinema and gym. (See Add-ons for pricing.) The entire apartment is kept comfortable by a temperature-controlled central air system. PLEASE NOTE: - Please take the time to read through the house rules - Either the host or a representative will be on site with you for the duration of the shoot to orient you in the space, to verify head count, and to ensure that all rules are followed. - Given the heavier footprint and additional wear & tear, commercial filming may require a customized fee schedule - A security deposit (5x hourly fee) is required ahead of your shoot start time through Zelle or Venmo. This security deposit will be returned to your account within 3 business days assuming no damages occurred during the shoot
