Our experience shooting in this studio was challenging, to say the least. This was primarily due to inaccuracies in the listing, which left us scrambling on our set-up day and spending a lot of extra time and money to fill the gaps. The lack of on-site support & slow comms from the studio owner further exacerbated the situation. My understanding is that the studio owner was overseas during our pre-production and shoot, which resulted in highly delayed responses, including 1 week of no-contact after they said they would reach out to me via phone to respond to my production questions. When we finally did talk, Fay was helpful and kind. However, there were multiple inaccuracies in the listing and gaps in communication including: - The listing says the studio has AC. It does not. We found out on a 90-degree set-up day and spent an additional $1,000 to rush deliver a portable AC unit. -The listing says there is access to a kitchen and photos show a kitchen with table/chairs. I learned after booking that you can use the sink/fridge but cannot otherwise set up in the kitchen. This necessitated us spending an additional $1,100 to rent additional space in the building for crafty/lunch. -When we arrived for load-in, our site contact didn’t have a code to get into the studio. Our crew was locked out for 30 minutes until we were able to contact the studio owner to unlock the door remotely. - The listing mentions a huge freight elevator. It omits that the use of the freight is $500/day. The freight elevator didn’t fit our standard-size production cart, so we had to hand-load our equipment. The listing says there is a cart available for use, but our on-site contact either didn’t offer it or wasn’t aware that it existed. - The listing states that on-site parking is available. I confirmed this with Fay. On load-in, we discovered the lot closes at 6 p.m, and we had issues working with the lot attendants to accommodate the 7 cars and 1 truck from our crew & talent. - It’s worth mentioning that when working through some of the pre-production issues with Fay in advance, she booked our load-in day at a discount. However, it was not made clear that the booking came with a freight operator, not a site rep. This meant there was no one in the building to help us troubleshoot the above issues. Fay was responding to texts to try to help, but not at the speed we needed, which caused significant delays (and OT) for our team. -The listing states it is “perfect for audio recording, featuring insulated windows that ensure a quiet and distraction-free environment.” This was not our experience. We were actively hearing traffic throughout our recordings and lost count of how many times we held for sound. What worked well: - This space was gorgeous and delivered the look we needed. - We were impressed with our site rep, Phil, on the day we had him. He was helpful and awesome to work with. This shoot was part of a series that we had planned to shoot in the same location. We unanimously agreed to source a different studio for the next shoot.

Yes the location is great for what we needed. Host communication was delayed as they were on vacation but everything worked out in end.

This was a cute DTLA loft! It worked very well for the space we needed. It helped that we went for a scout . We brought in heavy props, so it was good to be prepared on how to bring them in because the hallways are small. Overall the space looks exactly what is pictured (:
