The PERFECT downtown office vibe. We were looking for a location for a short film set in the office of a high-powered CEO. Something that reads Wall Street just outside the windows. The corner office was perfect for this, with great views of downtown LA. Also at this location were cubicles that would be a great office location in their own right, but we were able to use them as makeup, sound, DIT, and craft service “stations” throughout the day, which was fantastic! Also on this floor are several empty offices which we utilized for actor’s changing rooms, green rooms, and equipment staging--but again, great office locations in their own right. Perhaps best of all for our shoot, there was no noise from any other parties—we had the entire floor to ourselves! Also, we were able to use existing office furniture as set dressing, which was a huge benefit, and cut our art department budget in half. As for parking, there is an alleyway right around the corner that we used for loading and unloading, with room for 2 trucks and a car at one time. Adjacent to the building is a parking garage, perfect for smaller vehicles. And two blocks away is a surface lot that we parked our trucks in (look for Paragon Parking). Communication with the location was great—Zeeshan responded to every inquiry quickly, and was ready with an answer to any question I could think up. The only caveat which I must mention is that the elevator is just barely too small for standard size camera and grip carts, but as we were a fairly small shoot, this didn't really slow us down. I expect to be coming back here for any shoots that involve a downtown, high-end office location.
