About

This is the house modern artist Jasper Johns lived in in the 1970s with pals like Merce Cunningham and John Cage. This where he painted his flags and bullseyes -- in a room he'd opened up and turned into a double-height studio which gets glorious natural light from a skylight and a bank of south-facing, floor-to-ceiling windows that roll up like garage doors to access the outdoors. The barn's original beams, wood walls and even ancient hardware (rusted rings for hitching animals) have been kept, but the rest of the house is similarly open plan in the mid-century style. The little town of Stony Point has grown since Johns lived here but the 1.29 tree-covered acres, and meandering trout stream, around the house (and detached guest house) lend a woodsy feel. The house and grounds have been used a number of times for fashion shoots (and one music video!)

This place is beautiful. Exactly what we had in mind for our photoshoot. Lots of versatile areas for shooting. Masha was extremely hospitable and patient. Thank you for allowing us to use your space.

Lovely setting close to the city, but felt like a world away.

This house is a great oasis in the woods. Close enough to the city to get to with ease. The ability to have a studio setting out here while also having the woods and character of the house is rare.
