Saint Paulus is one of San Francisco's oldest churches, formed in 1867. We have an incredibly long, rich history of sheltering the homeless, providing shelter during the great 1906 earthquake & fire, been a safe haven for the LGBTQIA community and those suffering with HIV and attracted the most unique, quirky crowd to our church. The majority of our members are homeless so we supplement our income from renting our church space. Renters include national choirs, jazz bands, local homeless-advocate chorus teams and theatrical and opera choir rehearsals.
