About the Space

This is a landmark Victorian Colonial Revival house in the center of one of Brooklyn's last intact neighborhoods of freestanding period homes. Built in 1899, the property offers 4,000 square feet across three floors, a basement, and an enormous modernized open attic. Includes a private driveway, detached garage, front porch and backyard. It was fully renovated in 2023, bringing in clean modern design, open spaces, all electric heating and cooling, and three-phase electricity. Ground Floor The entry foyer features an original dark walnut door with ornate leaded stained glass, opening into a wide hall with a clear sightline through the full length of the house. The living room and dining room connect through a pair of original floor-to-ceiling carved mahogany columns with stained glass insets. The kitchen is a large, open chef's kitchen with an enormous triangular island, high ceilings, and a breakfast nook with direct access to the rear deck. A powder room completes the floor. Second Floor Wide hallways with hardwood floors, staircases with large windows for outdoor light, four bedrooms and two full baths. The Attic The most unique space in the home. We opened this up to create a vaulted, churchlike geometry, replacing the structural walls with four pillars and making use of all possible space. Dormers facing South, West, and North let in natural light that changes the character over the course of the day. The ceilings are 13ft to the top of the dormers and 17ft to the central peak. An easily accessed loft provides a vantage point to see the entire space from above. The master bathroom features angled ceilings and a freestanding soaking tub. Also on this floor is a dressing room and empty storage room. Area can be isolated by closing the door at the bottom of the central stairwell Exterior & Outdoor A deep columned porch looks out over a quiet, tree-lined block of Victorian-era neighbor homes. The private driveway runs the length of the property to a detached rear garage. The backyard includes a paved patio, fire pit, trees and shrubs in rolling planters, and a cedar greenhouse.
