The animal shelter and its on-site veterinary clinic is located in Central MA in Central New England. We are easy to get to and are located off multiple highways. The shelter is on a rural road yet the property is zoned for BOTH commercial AND residential ( we live on-site next door to the shelter ). The shelter is about an hour from Boston/Hartford and Providence.
We have had multiple TV rigs and trucks parked on-site for days at a time and been featured in countless regional/international media (print and TV). We are used to having filming happening on-site.
The property offers plenty of lighting, paved flat parking lots, (we've even had 18 wheelers manage to get in and out of our parking/driveways). There is a large medical center located within walking distance (to the left and right of our property) that may allow for overflow parking IF needed.
There are multiple buildings on a beautifully 2 acres of landscaped property. A renovated 2 story house UPSTAIRS includes a break room w/ bathroom/shower, microwave and full sized fridge, TV and pull out sleeper sofa and offices. DOWNSTAIRS- The entire 1st floor is dedicated to our high volume low cost spay/neuter clinic.
Wifi is available throughout the property as is heat and A/C.
Some of the other buildings and sections include a main kennel w/ 19 indoor/outdoor kennels - isolation wards - cat adoption room w/ 24 cages - small 5 indoor/outdoor kennels - multiple fenced in meet/greet areas, an on-site veterinary clinic (and a pet crematorium).
In addition, we have a beautiful 65,000+ gallon Koi Rescue pond with multiple bridges, fountains, lights and pergola with 2 resident Pekin Ducks.
We are in the process of finalizing a huge mural on a concrete retaining wall that looks really unique and edgy (for an animal shelter!).
Within walking distance there is a newly renovated bed and breakfast (The Chocksett Inn) which have suites w/ kitchenettes and there are countless restaurants within a few miles. Just next door is a deli for lunch/snacks and Dunkin Donuts.
In our region, there are wide varieties of backgrounds, backdrops and scenery for any time of the year or filming any type of movie/TV show. The 2001 film Shallow Hal even had scenes shot in Sterling. Sterling is the setting of Sarah Josepha Hale's famous poem, "Mary Had a Little Lamb". Mary Sawyer, the subject of the historically true poem, lived in Sterling

Points of interest - An annual event, the Sterling Fair, is typically held in early/mid-September and is one of the last remaining agricultural fairs with FREE admission. A great time to visit and enjoy with rides, food, and lots of fun things to do/see/buy or try!
We are in Close proximity to Wachusett Mountain (state forest / ski area) and Leominster State Forest. Davis Farmland, a seasonal petting zoo and Davis Mega Maze, New England's only world class adventure cornfield maze. Sholan Park located on Lake Waushacum has a beach area with a dock for swimming. It also has grills for cookouts, a sand volleyball court, and a boat ramp. The little town of Sterling, Mass., is getting a lot of attention these days. Not only has the Sterling Municipal Light Department (SMLD) won awards for its new solar+storage microgrid, the town is getting visitors from Germany, Japan, Norway and many other countries.
