About the Space
"I love the energy of your space." is the usual reaction to our home. We've gone to great lengths to create an inviting cozy, centered environment for our guests. Our home is affectionately named The Cat's Pajamas Inn and Artist Retreat and we believe it does that title justice. This 1920s small craftsman bungalow was built for the Shell Company employees working in Brea, CA. It has been renovated from 650-950sq ft. The front garden is filled with 2 palms, birds of paradise, German status, and purple potato vine. The porch is large enough to hold two tables and chairs or a yoga mat and cozy chair as we have it set up. The drive fits 4 snuggly but the parking pad goes into the backyard and can tightly fit a Ford F150. There is street parking and a public lot nearby. The small front bedroom has a boho vibe with a World Market Rattan daybed, dark olive walls, mirrored closet doors, and a kitchy motorcycle stool. The living room/dining room is adjoined and furnished by dead relatives including a 1950s burl wood credenza and oak and glass bookcase/curio cabinet and an acryllic drop painted 1950's drop leaf table with the leaves hung as art up on the walls. The Primary has a brown and beige stone rainfall shower and a Morrocan fixture with dark mauve walls and a view to the back yard. The second bathroom is white and seascape-colored tile with a spa tub without jets and a barn door. Across the long hallway is a built-in glass bookcase filled with art and books. Out back there is ample grass, (depending on watering restrictions) fig, peach, plum, lemon, and orange trees (all young but fruiting), and fully grown ficus and Chinese elm. There are potted bamboo, in-ground elephant ear, jasmine, red banana, hibiscus, and lavender. The gazebo has seen better days #busted but is still standing with a Morrocan jerry-rigged fixture. The outdoor furniture consists of two large outdoor almost-eyeball chairs and a double Sunsana with a white shade and small stand-alone firepit. There is a 150 sq ft. tool shed that will someday be a tiny house. On the side, there are three 8X2 garden beds filled with thriving seasonal veg. and possibly more in spring '22. **The best part of the house is the brand new porcelain clawfoot tub outside in the backyard. It is semi-private unless the neighbors get too nosey. I fill it for cold dips early in the morning. It looks and feels sexy and has a view of the rest of the yard.

This house was absolutely everything! Our team was originally going to use both the interior and exterior of the space, but due to scheduling conflicts, we were only able to showcase the backyard. It is straight out of a storybook with a beautiful tree shading over the perfectly manicured grass, plants and a seating area. Lisa was the best host we could have asked for. Whenever we had a question she always responded as soon as she possibly could. She is kind, flexible, welcoming, and with us being students from Chapman University, she helped us in every way she could and we are so grateful! If you are looking to shoot in the Brea area, I would highly recommend this space!

Space was clean, well-lit and Lisa was very easy to work with and great place! There are cats, so be aware if any of your crew has allergies. But the backyard, rooms, and location looks excatly like the pictures online, the spaces are easy to light and film in, and the owner is amazing to work with! 10/10 would recommend this place for your next shoot!
