About the Space

This Castle is solid stone - built by Max Helmer. The Castle is on 20 acres of forest in lower Michigan, about 40 minutes from DTW. Originally built in 1927 with three feet plus of stone walls and added on in 1940, the Castle is perched on a high point in lower Michigan, with 25 mile views from the top of the Keep. The Keep has 5 floors and a short dungeon underneath with 66 steps to the top. Each of the five rooms is in various state of repair, all accessed with a metal spiral staircase. The main house has a newly refinished original hardwood floor stone walls and wood beam ceiling. Metal frames original windows look out over a ravine for sunrise. A wood stove completes the look. The kitchen has 1970s wood cabinets with newer stainless appliances and an antique tin ceiling. The upstairs provides a bedroom with exposed beam vaulted ceiling and a bathroom. The finished basement provides space for makeup and hair and well as laundry and another bathroom. The grounds have walking paths through the 20 acres, including a sand pit - can be used as a gun range.
