Second Empire Victorian Mansion with Two Barns on 5+ Acres At this time, the property is best suited for events / bookings outside on the grounds, such as on the front porch, lawn, in the grove of trees, and in the barns. We may be able to accommodate photoshoots inside, if an area pictured appeals to you. The house is filled with natural light throughout the day. This Second Empire Victorian home, known as Chestwood, was built in 1874. The historic 3,650 square foot home has 3 floors, 5 chimneys, a grand staircase, and original woodwork throughout. The first floor has a large living room with an original floor-to-ceiling East Lake mirror opposite the fireplace. The living room has a cozy windowed alcove on one side, a library on the other, and entrances to a dining and sitting room. Several doors lead out to the wraparound porch, which has been lovingly preserved with an original entrance lantern and large wooden doors. Follow the staircase up to the second floor bedrooms, and on to the third floor, which has the tower room. The house sits on nearly 6 acres, surrounded by trees and a winding creek. Two historic barns are out back with original lofts and a fireplace. The home is located just a 3-minute drive from historic downtown Saratoga Springs, yet it is one of the only Victorian homes to have this much land in the area. Saratoga Springs consistently ranks in the Top 10 for best American main streets and was once the largest vacation destination at the turn of the century. Over 100 years later, it’s still an upstate oasis of arts and culture, with hundreds of Victorian homes, natural springs, a lake, the famed Yaddo artists’ retreat, the summer home of the NYC Ballet, Skidmore College, the Avenue of the Pines, and beautiful parks. Situated near the foothills of the Adirondacks and 3 hours from New York City, Boston, Montreal, and the Finger Lakes. Chestwood is currently a private residence, but we are open to considering cosmetic changes for filming needs (such as painting interior walls or staging rooms or the barns).
